ZeedZaad is a Thai phrase for the mouth's instinctive cooling reaction when experiencing spicy food and Baan Thai means Thai Home. ZeedZaadBaan is a family run Thai Restaurant and our aim to make our home your Thai home of Spice for the evening leaving you 'feeling good with oneself' - 'Sabai' and rekindling memories of the 'Land Of Smiles'. 

Proprietor Kuhn Saitong from Chiang Mai, Thailand's Rose of the North, has successfully built on Baan Thai's long established reputation for providing authentic Thai food in Guernsey. This year sees an amazing 10 years since opening which is testament to the quality food and service offered. Saitong was practically raised in the kitchen as her entire family has worked in various restaurants including the popular Top North Guest House. Saitong moved to Guernsey, with her family after a spell in Hong Kong, where her Thai food evenings in Happy Valley were a popular Wednesday 'race night' attraction amongst friends. 

Anyone who has experienced Thai food will have a tale of stumbling upon their favourite eatery while strolling through the soi's and side streets of Thailand. Saitong's vision is to keep it simple and bring the 'taste' of these streets to Guernsey in Soi Mill Street - somewhat similarly hidden away in the Old Quarter of town.

Unable physically to bring the fresh markets, warm beaches and Thai ways to Guernsey, Kuhn Saitong wishes to give clients the 'taste' they yearn for the moment they leave Thailand. To offer the true authentic taste of Thailand fresh ingredients are sourced daily and all meats are freshly cooked at time of order.

Our Thai Restaurant caters for all tastes from mild and flavoursome to fantastically hot and spicy and we will guide you through the menu to meet your preference. Some of our more popular Thai dishes include:

• Sai-Oua (Chiang Mai Sausage) from Saitong's home
• Tom Yum Hed - Mushroom spicy soup with lemongrass and lime leaves
• Pra Neua - Beef with Chill & spring onion seasoned with lemon grass, lime leaves & coriander
• Pad Phed Gai - Chicken stir fried in red curry paste, green beans and lime leaves
• Pad Thai - popular stir fried rice noodles with egg, spring onions & bean sprouts in a sweet tamarind sauce served with ground peanuts
• Khanom Bua-Loi Soong Si - traditional Thai desert of rice flour in coconut milk & pandanus juice

Thai dishes for the connoisseur can be ordered off menu i.e. Som Tam (Spicy Thai papaya salad) given advance notice and subject to fresh ingredients. There are a range of non spicy foods, if Zeed Zaad is not for your palate.

Thai meals are best accompanied by cold Singha beer or cold white or rose wine. Our extensive wine list aims to cover all tastes but if feeling 'Zeed Zaad' a cold ginger beer, or ice cream does the trick!

Zeed Zaad Baan Thai appreciates lunch hours are short so have created a new low carb lunch box option at £7.95 for people on the go. Eat in or take out. See our facebook page or the downloads on the right for our full menu.

We are also open for takeaways with 30 minutes notice but reserve the right to close this service if the restaurant is busy in the interests of our in-house diners.
