SRMC specialises in sports and remedial massage through the use of a deep form of soft tissue massage. We adapt each treatment so it is tailored to your specific needs, ensuring that you receive the best possible remedy for tired and aching muscles.

Profile
I'm Carol Harvey and I run SRMC. Having taken part in a variety of sports at competitive levels over a number of years and experienced long standing injuries myself, I learnt to appreciate just how effective sports and remedial massage treaments are for the whole body. My interest made me eventually decide to study at the London School of Sport & Remedial Massage.

With a Professional Diploma in Clinical Sport & Remedial Massage (Level 5) and the LSSM Diploma in Sport & Remedial Massage I am fully trained and also qualified in a variety of advanced techniques including soft tissue release (STR) and Muscle Energy Techniques (MET). I have gained extensive experience working with both sporting and non sporting clients, including high profile sporting events both locally and in the UK, such as the London Marathon. I am also a great believer in continual learning and skill development and have recently obtained additional qualifications in prenatal massage and kineso taping.
So what is Remedial Massage?
To use manual massage and soft tissue therapy techniques to try to "remedy" a problem and rehabilitate.
Conditions
Remedial massage can treat and help a variety of conditions including musculoskeletal issues such as back and neck pain, headaches (including migraine), irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, Reynaud's Syndrome, whiplash, frozen shoulder, tennis and golfers elbow.
How does Sports Massage differ?
A specialist area within Remedial massage therapy, sports massage comprises of a number of techniques designed to help treat soft tissue damage, muscular pain, tendons, ligaments and postural problems. It can also help with reducing the likelihood of incurring injury during exercise, rehabilitation after injury and preparing you for sport and other types of exercise.
Sporting Strains
Sports massage can treat and help a variety of sporting strains including runner's knee, tendonitis, foot, ankle, elbow or wrist complaints, ligament injuries and reduced mobility or mechanical limitations.
Seated Acupressure Massage
Based on a traditional form of Japanese massage called 'ANMA' meaning 'press and rub'. It works on the muscular, circulation and nervous systems, stimulating over 60 specific pressure points on the head, neck, shoulders, back and arms. These short treatments using ergonomically designed chairs help reduce stress, bring relaxation and energy into daily life and can be delivered at your work place, home, event or at our studio.
Pre and Post Pregnancy Massage
Using specialist massage couches. Regular massage therapy during pregnancy can relieve many of the aches and pains that are associated with pregnancy, such as back pain, headaches, leg cramps and abdominal pain. Prenatal massage is a natural touch therapy that shares many of the goals of regular massage - to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility and just make you feel good - and tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies.
Treatments
Initial appointments usually last an hour and include a brief history and short questionnaire on current and previous problems and concerns. In addition a postural assessment and/or specific muscle tests may be carried out. The frequency of appointments depends on the nature of the problem and how often you wish to come. Home treatments are also available.
