Quay Gallery in Guernsey has been established at No.3 Mill Street since the late 1980's. The now-owner, Mike Barneby worked at the gallery for several years before travelling the world, and on returning to Guernsey in 1995, bought the gallery and began to establish himself as a leading buyer and supplier of original art and high quality prints.
Mike has built up a strong and loyal client base and his links with leading art houses and studios ensure that Quay Gallery's work remains current and highly collectable. As a keen amateur photographer, Mike's vision was to create a relaxed and inspiring space, bringing together an outstanding range of work for art-loving islanders and visitors alike.
Quay gallery promotes the work of over seventy artists at any one time with a huge and eclectic range of work. We also have access to an extensive network of publishers and art houses so if you would like to commission a piece or want to track down something specific, we can assist you throughout the process.
We offer a popular and appealing alternative to the traditional wedding gift, whether it is a single piece of art that means something really special or an opportunity to start building your own collection, our wedding gift list service makes it possible.
Many couples already have a home together so don't necessarily need the conventional and traditional household wedding gifts. Quay Gallery offer the perfect solution - your family and friends can contribute toward a romantic wedding gift that you can treasure for the rest of your lives.
We make it very simple - Here's an example of how we set up a wedding gift list service:
The soon to be Mr and Mrs Smith visit the Gallery six months prior to their 'big day'. They are looking for wedding gifts with a bit of a difference and knew their home would benefit from some decent ART!
They come into the Gallery and together we discuss the spaces in their home that need filling, their tastes and requirements and what they are hoping to achieve. After being guided around and shown numerous different styles from a range of artists, they select three pieces for their friends and relations to contribute towards.
We then reserve the pieces for viewing by the wedding guests which can be done in person or we can email the list to any guest who is unable to come into the Gallery. This is obviously ideal for guests who do not live in Guernsey. We can also set up a dedicated link on the Quay Gallery website so your selection is accessible to everyone at all times.
We will record all the details of any contributions and, if a picture you have selected as one of your wedding gifts is too expensive for one guest, then several can contribute towards it. If your Art has not been fully bought a month after your wedding, you can either pay the remainder yourselves or choose a less expensive piece of work. In our experience, this is a very rare situation.
Quay Gallery offers a free delivery and picture hanging service, so you can simply give us a call when you return from your honeymoon and we take care of the rest.
