THE COMPANY
Johansen Executive Coaching is a Guernsey based coaching and mentoring company formed by Cato Johansen in 1997. A Master Certified Coach, Cato was one of the pioneers in the field of Executive Coaching with a wealth of professional experience and qualifications. He is absolutely passionate about the power of coaching to transform the work and personal lives of leaders and teams. Prior to becoming a Coach, Cato was a Senior Executive for over 20 years.
In 2006, Michelle Johansen joined her husband as director and executive coach and has added further dimensions to the offering with Johansen Coaching - personal life coaching, the hugely popular Guernsey Women's Development Forum, and Life Coach for Core Wellness Centre.
'Having successfully climbed the executive career ladder for more than 20 years, I was shocked when burn-out hit me like lightening from a clear blue sky. The event forced me to face the question: "What the hell was that all about?" and I started a process of personal exploration and development that has continued ever since.
Amongst my early realisations, I saw that we are often unconsciously reacting to circumstances in pre-determined, habitual (and ineffective) ways and we constantly give our power away. So I founded Johansen Executive Coaching, partly to continue this exploration and partly to support executives in becoming conscious of their hidden thoughts, feelings and beliefs; in staying present and finding and realising their potential; and in creating lives and careers characterised by confidence, fulfilment and joy.'
Cato Johansen
Cato was born in Norway but has lived in the UK and Guernsey for over 25 years. He is fluent in English, French and the Scandinavian languages and has clients in the UK, Norway, Denmark, Holland, USA and the Channel Islands.
'When I met Cato in 1999, I had never heard of Executive Coaching and was quite sceptical about the concept. Over the next few years as I learned more about his work and gradually I began to see new possibilities available to me, if I approached my work in a different way.
In 2002 I took the CTI Intermediate Coaching training and adapted my management style to include a coach-like approach. Over the following years I became increasingly fascinated by the management of people and undertook the MA in Strategic HRM in 2005, focusing my dissertation on Change Management from an emotions perspective. In 2006, I decided to make the break and join my husband full time. I am now enjoying the journey and am passionate about helping people achieve greater fulfilment from their work, especially in the finance industry in Guernsey.'

Cato and Michelle Johansen are supported by a network of highly qualified coaches and workshop leaders in the Channel Islands, UK and Europe. All have been through a process of personal re-invention, coming from senior management or management consulting into coaching leaders and teams.
