Home-Start
Confidential support and friendship
for local families
Many parents need help, friendship, advice or support during those early years when children are young.
There is no rule book for raising a family and sometimes it can seem overwhelming, particularly if your family is going through difficult times. But if you can get the support you need when you need it, then day-to-day family life and your children's future can be so much brighter.
Are you:
Isolated with no family nearby and struggling to make friends
Suffering with post-natal illness but finding it hard to talk to anyone about it
Having a hard time coping with your child's illness
Overwhelmed by the death of a loved one
Struggling with the emotional and physical demands of having twins, triplets or more
Struggling to cope with a disability or relationship problems
Tired, unhappy, exhausted
Home-Start is here to help you and your family.
If you have at least one child under five Home-Start can help. All volunteers are parents themselves or have parenting experience, - they know what you are going through.
A fully trained parent volunteer (all are police checked), who has been carefully matched with you, will visit you in your home, usually once a week, and you decide what you do together - whether you need to talk, a shoulder to cry on, someone to play with or read to your children, support to make or keep medical appointments or to find out what else is available to you locally.
Home-Start's help is free and confidential - all you have to do is ask for help.
Everyone needs a little help sometimes
