I’ve known Ann for some time now, benefitting from her diet and fitness expertise as a personal trainer so knew firsthand how professional and good she is so thought she could help me on a small confidence problem. I had helped out with a spot of teaching and although I had done this for a few years I always looked with great trepidation and anxiety on the days leading up to my weekly lesson, then had a feeling of total relief when it was over. It was a constant source of anxiety for me even though I was more than able to deliver. In all I had two sessions with Ann, both very calm, relaxing and successful. I cannot really say what happened but just know that afterwards I felt empowered and confident. I used to worry about lesson planning and student interaction and have willingly taken on extra. I can honestly say all those years of feeling uptight and nervous have evaporated. Ann has certainly helped me and I would recommend her services to anyone. Thank you so much.
I started training with Ann twelve months ago when I was a novice cyclist and needed help training for the London to Paris charity bike ride. With Ann's excellent training plans and positive encouragement I completed it and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ann gives a great professional and personalised service. Her training plan and testing helped me reach my fitness goals.
Ann Bowditch is a great person and is very helpful with all aspects of fitness and nutrition.
I have been training with Ann for a number of months. I have found her approach excellent and work out routines fitted with my requirements perfectly. I would strongly recommend using Ann whether you are new to keeping fit or are looking for that extra to move you onto a new level.
This has been a great way to improve my overall fitness, but mainly focusing on bike riding. The tailored schedule Ann puts together is based on what you want to achieve and how much time you have to dedicate to it. Knowing that the schedule is specific to your needs is a real confidence boost knowing that the time your putting in is helping you to improve and not going to waste. Be prepared to work hard and you'll see the benefits.
In August 2010 I was asked if I would like to join a group of 3 other Mums to cycle from London to Paris for charity in May 2011. I love a challenge as I had only been on a bike once since I was about fifteen years old, so I agreed. I purchased a road bike in January this year and practised in the driveway but every time I went out I stacked it so was not enjoying it. Then a friend recommended I contact Ann, who immediately boosted my confidence. She recommended the Yellow Jersey package and it has been fantastic. She set up weekly schedules based on my current fitness levels. Ann also came out with me on the bike on two occasions as she understood I had a few anxieties! In the first session she taught me cornering and within the hour I already felt more in control. In the next session, eating and drinking on the go. Ann immediately put me at ease and made me feel I could accomplish anything if I put my mind to it. My fitness and confidence on the bike improved greatly as the weeks went by. Ann got me to focus on riding hilly routes in my training. This enabled me to finish days 1 and 2 of the ride without any problems – I was one of the few cyclists who actually enjoyed days 1 and 2! I have thoroughly enjoyed training with Ann. The training schedules are designed to minimise disruption to my personal life and ensure that my fitness levels keep improving. I am looking forward to Ann helping me with my next challenge – a triathlon!
I first took up Ann’s Yellow Jersey package in November 2010 with the aim of starting road racing and getting to a competitive standard. I had first heard about Ann when reading a report of a Cat 2 Men’s race local to me that Ann had raced as preparation for the Commonwealth Games. Although taking on a coach was a big financial commitment for me, I am extremely happy with Ann’s service. I did not know anything about specific training for racing, and I did not want to waste precious training hours on training that would not make a difference. Ann’s programmes gave me the confidence that am doing exactly the right kind of training at the right time, and I have seen really good results. Each training plan is specifically tailored to the amount of time I have to train. I am very noticeably stronger and faster than I was just four months ago. Ann’s Yellow Jersey package is also excellent value for money – not only has Ann provided training plans but a range of information regarding nutrition, nutrition timing, race strategy etc. Using her experience of road racing, Ann also helped me to choose which races I should be targeting. The result of my first four months of being coached by Ann is that I placed 3rd in my first ever road race, a Cat 3/4 race which I was absolutely over the moon with. I’m now looking forward to racing in the National Series and Womens Team Series to see how I compare.
Nothing beats having a good coach, except Ann who is a great coach! She has the skills and knowledge to help you achieve your goals. I have enjoyed the programs which Ann designed for me. She knows how to push you without breaking you. Thanks Ann.
I would just like to say how much I enjoyed the course and how inspirational I found it, I also discovered a few strengths I didn't know I had. I feel very priviledged to have met such a diverse class of people and would very much like to meet with them again, once again thank you for the course I learnt a lot not only about myself but also about my attitude to tackling lifes problems and highs.
Ann's bootcamp sessions are excellent, you get an excellent work out along with plenty of fresh air, and it's good fun too.
Ann's classes are hardwork but fun, well at least ours is. Even though I'm not the fittest she never makes me feel this and is very encourging. Ann's a superb cyclist and a role model to follow especially through fitness & nutrition. Long may she reign!!!
Reaching 16 stone prior to Christmas, being on medication for hypertension, with a family history of thrombosis, strokes, and type 2 Diabetes the cards were stacked against me approaching the ripe old age of 54!I spotted the Conquer your Weight course on her blog, and a couple of emails later I committed to attend. Now the course has ended it seems like there's a gap in Fridays. To walk into a room with 9 people you've not met before, and to get so much support, positive vibes, and openness is something highly unusual. All of this facilitated by Ann's relaxed and highly effective delivery of huge amounts of information and effective practical advice. In 6 weeks I have "seen the light", changed my dietary habits (no diet though), started taking charge of my work / life balance, and walk more. I've lost 16 pounds already, but most importantly feel like a new person and have a significantly reduced blood pressure. My advice would be ... "Don't delay ... just do it" Ann works!
Ann's Conquer your Weight programme has been very useful and I can already see how many changes I have managed to make after only 6 weeks. Ann does not give you a diet but instead encourages conscious eating and teaches you about foods. I would recommend this course to anybody trying to lose weight whilst remaining healthy as I am convinced that ultimately a change in lifestyle is the only way to achieve long term goals.
I have been attending boot camp now for two years. Last year I also started having a personal training session with Ann once a week. Before Ann I had never maintained a regular training programme, wasting many years gym membership along the way. Now I train 3 times a week. A great achievement considering I have never been sporty!
It's over a year since I left a testimonial but wanted to update my ongoing enjoyment of Ann's bootcamps. I was worried everyone would be supper fit and 'clicky' but I could not be more wrong! Everyone is there to get fit, have fun and keep each other motivated. Ann's classes are never the same, always fun but challenging and held at various sites round the isalnd which keeps it interesting. Ann's extensive knowledge and support is second to none. I would not hesitate to recommend Ann to everyone, no matter what your level of fitness.
Having tried another Bootcamp in the island which wasn't for me, I ended up feeling really demotivated. I'm glad to say Ann's classes have restored my enthusiasm. You can work at your own pace and she's always there to encourage you and perfect your technique in the exercises. I'm not your typical fitness fan but I have really enjoyed going to the Bootcamps (even in the rain!) and everyone else in the class is really welcoming.
Ann has coached me for cycling since mid 2009 when I initally asked her to set a 3 month schedule for the bike leg of Graniteman triathlon. I found the sessions she set both enjoyable and effective as I soon improved. Since then I have concentrated on cycling. I have found Ann to be an excellent communicator...she always plans the schedules around the time I have available and they are always tailored in response to how my training/racing has progressed in the previous month. Ann listens to my opinions regarding the training plans and will sometimes change them or explain her rationale. Ann also suggested I take a food intolerance test after I battled with breathing problems at the end of last year..I was intolerant to certain foods and having cut them out I have few breathing problems and much higher levels of energy than I did before. I was happy with my first season of cycling last year and look forward to another sucessful season with Ann this year.
I like to class myself as reasonably fit, by doing running, body toning, step classes and working out in the gymn since my late thirties (now 55) but I felt my enthusiasm mellowing, until my husband who has been personally trained by Ann for just over a year now, suggested I try her boot camp sessions. I have started go on a Tuesday and Saturday. The Saturday session is my favourite because of the various outdoor locations and it being that - outdoor. I was nervous about going (some fitness classes are "clicky"). Not so with Ann's. From the start I felt like I have been there as long as most of them. We have a great laugh. Ann is totally committed to everyone there, encouraging, well informed, puts you right if you are not doing the exercise quite how it should be done but without making you feel stupid. Ann very obviously enjoys what she does and helps you to do the same. There is no turning back now, the only way I will miss is through illness or holidays. Thanks Ann.Va R
I have been training with Ann for nearly two years now and I have achieved fitness goals that I would never have dreamed possible. Thanks to Ann's expert training, support and encouragement, I completed the Great South Run last year - 10 miles - in a time that I was very proud of. I had never considered myself to be a runner but the feeling of exhilaration when I crossed the finish line in Portsmouth was fantastic and one of the greatest achievements of my life. But training with Ann is not all about the big goals. Just doing a session every week with Ann is such a pleasure. She encourages me to do my best, but we also have fun along the way with plenty of laughter. There is no doubt that I would not have kept up my training programme for the last two years without Ann. I would recommend her highly to anyone.
I enjoy exercise and Ann's bootcamp is excellent way to keep myself fit. Ann is always encouraging and very helpful with all aspects of fitness. We work very hard but also have great fun too. I would recommend Ann to anyone wanting to improve their fitness, you won't be disappointed.
Before working with Ann I was unhealthy, overweight, stressed and very unhappy. I had tried a variety of diets and exercise regimes over the years which were fine for a few weeks or months but I soon slipped back into bad habits which got worse due to workload and stress. Advice about fitness & diet from Ann helped me make great changes in my lifestyle and it wasn't just another diet or exercise regime, it was to become my way of life. Together we addressed the issues which made me overeat and dealt with the stress that caused me to fly into rages or sit and mope which again made me overeat. Because of Bowditch Fit, I am healthy and happy with coping skills which don't include eating myself sick. I find I now enjoy exercise, after school PE lessons left me a severe hatred of all things exercise related. When I talk to friends who have weight issues or need to change their lifestyle I always recommend Bowditch Fit as a place to get the help needed without feeling judged.
When January comes members of the rowing club start thinking about heading back out onto the water for another tough competitive season. A small group of lady rowers took up the opportunity of a six week programme of pre-season training with Ann to try to get into shape before picking up the oars again. We're just over half way through and although it's hard work it's starting to pay dividends. Ann has put together a programme which focuses on strengthening the core muscles and as well as improving general fitness levels. It's also more fun than heading to the gym alone! Thanks Ann - lets see if it makes a difference on the water!
I am not at all sporty and started seeing Anne to support a friend who was on a pre-wedding fitness push but have enjoyed and benefitted so much that I've continued. I was not particularly overweight but was flabby and am beginning to register that I'm not getting any younger (I'm 47). It's been great fun watching my results gradually improve over the months and even though I only attend 1/week now, knowing that I'm going to be seeing Anne and be monitored gives me the extra push to get out for that walk/whatever - even in lousy weather! Anne has a wonderful ability to encourage and motivate without ever being patronising - even when I've known that my attempt was pathetic!!!! She's also very realistic and has given me many tips re nutrition that take my lifestyle and reality into account e.g. wine is not going to disappear from my diet but I have become more aware of not drinking every day.I couldn't recommend her highly enough.
I contacted Ann following a recommendation from a friend. I was stuck in a rut with my exercise programme and wanted greater focus and inspiration. I certainly got that from Ann. She has prepared a targetted programme for me which, which means that I don't waste time in my workouts and every movement counts. Ann has provided great support throughout. She is always on the end of an email to provide advice and encouragement and her advice regarding nutrition has been most helpful. I feel really motivated and up for a challenge. Thanks Ann!
I have been having personal training sessions with Ann - I needed someone to motivate me to get fit, tone up and exercise, having in the past given up the gym a few weeks after starting. The sessions are fun, challenging and inspiring.I can wholeheartedly recommend Ann - she is a very approachable, professional and positive personal trainer who will inspire you to achieve your goals.
Having felt as though I have been on a diet for most of my adult life, Ann's approach to diet and nutrition is refreshing and inspirational. I'm not on a diet anymore, but am simply making well-informed choices and choosing sensible fuels for my body. In a month I have lost 1/2 stone and by following Ann's advice I am NOT hungry and no longer crave sweet things in the same way. Ann has been firm but kind in the training sessions and pushes me gently by encouraging me to achieve PBs at every session, which is perfect for my competitive nature, and I already feel fitter than I have done for ages. I've also been going to Ann's "Conquer your weight loss" course on Friday evenings which has been brilliant. I have learned lots, enjoyed the camaraderie and appreciated the openness of others in the group - it's all the support of WW without the scales or the feeling of being "on a diet"! Best decision I've made in a long time.
Ann has, for a number of years, been the top female cyclist in the island and has a wealth of knowledge of fitness, nutrition and training for all levels of people looking to exercise.
We have only been 'tortured' by Ann on three occasions so far but she is thorough, encouraging, never patronising and above all makes getting fit fun rather than hard work.
When Ann and I got together it was because I lacked the motivation to get into the gym on my own. Ann’s good company has made that obstacle easy to overcome. Now I have a project for 2011 that involves lots of running and the gym sessions with Ann are a necessary counter to the amount of time pounding the tarmac/treadmill. The Wednesday sessions are rarely easy, they are always varied and there is usually laughter involved … just what I need.
Well, a year on and I've well reached my original goals thanks to Annie. She really is the buisness! Not only is she the supreme motivator she always manages to encourage more out of you and inspire you to do better than you expect of yourself. I've said it before but what she doesnt know isn't worth knowing. Training with Ann is always great fun. Variety is the spice of life and thats what you get with her. After initially concentrating on running Ann got me into cycling and I have to say a huge thankyou, I love it. I have even found I have a bit of a competitive streak in me now. Look no further for a fitness instructor, Annie really is THE buisness. She delivers!
If you want a varied work out with a fun group of people in various stunning locations around the island, then Bootcamp is for you! The variety of the sessions is what appealed to me most as I hate the monotony of a gym workout in a sterile environment and I have to say that Ann’s Bootcamp delivers! I can actually say that I love it!
I really enjoyed Tuesday's boot camp. No two sessions have been the same and I always seem to find some new muscle that aches a bit the following day. It's proving to be a good motivator for my goal of being fitter and more toned when I hit a big birthday later on in the year!! I'm so glad I made that call to Ann at the end of November. The sessions are hard work but great fun and with a great bunch of inmates!
Last year four of us decided to do a long distance sportif cycling race in the Alps called the Marmotte. I trained hard and did a reasonable time, but decided I could probably do it quicker this year. I contacted Ann about 6 months beforehand to ask if she could devise a training plan which was less time consuming but would make me faster. Not much to ask! After a detailed initial assessment including the dreaded ramp test she came up with a plan which was usually in 4 or 5 week segments and personalised to my availability for training. There were a variety of rides within each week and each month changed so you didn’t get bored. It also became slowly more difficult, unsurprisingly. She was always happy to discuss any problems - not just about training but also strategy for the event itself, including most importantly nutrition and hydration. It paid off as I knocked 44 mins off my time and managed to hit my target of gold standard for my age(old geezers). Thanks Ann a good job done.
Last October I bought a road bike to try the novice triathlon in April. A muscular injury stopped me running so instead I decided to join some friends for the May Etape Caledonia in Pitlochry, Scotland - a closed road, 81 mile cyclo-sportive with a 1900 metre climb! I hadn't thought about "training" until after Christmas when panic set in. By luck, I came across Bowditch Fitness. Ann got me on a sensible training programme - I was amazed how quickly I improved. Ann was incredibly encouraging, supportive and always honest! She also sent me in the right direction for bike advice, maintenance etc. and made me aware of how important drink and food are in training and on the day.I went to Scotland prepared and ready for action. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and owe huge thanks to Ann for her patience, understanding and time. I had the most amazing time in a stunning part of the country. I would thoroughly recommend the experience and using Ann as a personal trainer.
We started with Ann doing Boot Camp sessions last January. Although, we call it ‘Boot Camp’, our hourly sessions are really just a form of outdoor fitness. It’s challenging, but nothing too frightening – we certainly don’t get yelled at!Being outdoors all around the island in all sorts of weather conditions is just an amazing and exciting way to exercise. It keeps us motivated and helps us appreciate how beautiful our gorgeous island is no matter what the weather. We have all increased our fitness levels hugely and interestingly, although we have had to endure one of the toughest winters I can remember on Guernsey – none of us have had the usual coughs and colds that winter brings. So, we are definitely a healthier bunch now too!!Thanks for putting up with us Ann
I never thought I would go down the road of getting a Personnal Trainer. But I have really enjoyed our training sessions and actually now look forward to them. Ann is very encouraging and professional and she has a great sense of humour too. Ann has a Personnal training Studio at her house which is great for the winter time. Ann will ask you what type of excercise you do and don't like to do... she actually makes excercise NOT boring!. My weight has decreased and my muscle mass has increased and so has my enthusiasm. thanks Ann.Sam Roze
I really enjoy my two mile run and personal training with Ann. She is very encouraging and is definitely helping me reach a level of fitness I never thought I could achieve. I'm really looking foward to the opening of her new personal gymn too so I don't finish our sessions looking like a drowned rat!
Getting the most from your cycling needs the best use of your time - especially if you have to fit training around a job and other pesky commitments. Knowing what you need to do each time you get on your bike and that it’s the best way to achieve your goals allows you to just get on with it. This peace of mind only comes from trusting that your coach knows what they're doing; Ann consistently shows that she does - peaking my form towards target events whilst also allowing me to race the whole season.
Ann's Boot Camp has been great. I was welcomed from day 1 and encouraged to work to my level. Ann uses a variety of activities which keeps things fresh, challenging and rewarding. Highly recommended.
Simply the best. Choose Ann Bowditch for all your training needs! Truly inspirational coach who ensures you reach your goals!
Ann Bowditch - this lady is truly inspirational. Since attending her boot camp my fitness has improved immensely. I feel full of life and her classes are truly fabulous, combining fitness, nutrition and fun. She has a really good following and is well respected. Feeling fit is great, thanks Ann!!!
Why put off til tomorrow what you can do today?Ann Bowditch will tell you why!! A year on and Boot Camp is still an 'enjoyable' challenge (I think!). I thought I would 'fizzle' out after only a few sessions, but I'm still going - twice a week! Next challenge - Jerbourg steps - can I raise my bar - what's the record?!!
I started doing bootcamp over a year ago to improve my fitness and, whilst feeling I am achieving this, I've also found the class so much fun - making it easier to keep going! Ann is truly inspiring and her knowledge of fitness and nutrition vast. The best part for me though is the comraderie and laughter in the camp and, as they say, laughter is the best medicine. This makes a truly well-rounded class!
Ann helped me with my bike training for the Granite Man triathlon 2008 - I beat my target by 13 minutes. Ann’s advice then led to a successful season of triathlon / Velo Club racing. Ann knows how to prepare you for your best performances at key points, she approaches training with a strong and intelligent technical background and understands how to fit it around normal life. If you’re a Triathlete wanting to post some of the fastest times in the race I would recommend Ann to help you out.
Training with Ann has given me the confidence to exercise regularly - something I would not have had the motivation or willpower to do on my own. I am somebody who has started with a very low level of fitness however with Ann's support and encouragement I have been inspired to embark on a healthier eating plan and lifestyle. Since my first session at the beginning of January I have had great success and am feeling positive about reaching my target. Ann is approachable and caring and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a friendly, professional instructor.
At 40 I decided to cut my teeth on the amateur road racing circuit. Ann, through the Polka Dot coaching package, has been a breath of fresh air and meets all my expectations and more. I have certainly enjoyed my 3 months to date. Indeed, I’m now starting the Yellow Jersey package with her.Ann - it’s been a pleasure working with you!
I was already quite active before I started training with Ann but, despite this, my weight was creeping up and I felt generally unfit and lacking motivation. Following recommendations from friends I decided to try personal training with Ann and I can honestly say I've never looked back. After 5 months of training I feel and look better and am fitter than I've been for years. Ann is able to make each session fun, which is quite an achievement considering we go out every Monday morning at 6:30! If in doubt, my advice would be go for it - you'll be surprised at what you can achieve with Ann's help.
It was September and I was 50. Id stopped playing football and doing fitness for 5 years, weight had crept up and Id decided to grow old gracefully. That's what I kept telling myself anyway but inside I really felt guilty as I knew I was too young to be consigned to the scrap heap. Motivation was my problem, even my excercise mad wife could not force me. One day I was following a little white van (BFN) so clocked the website and contacted Ann. Best decision I ever made. As everyone finds out she is such a good laugh and really makes the "pain" she inflicts fun. Knowing what a great athlete she is, is motivation enough as I feel I dont want to let her down. Her ecouragement and advise are priceless. Three months of personal traing in and Ive lost just over a stone, can run 4 miles non stop and clothes that didnt fit do now. I'm fitter than I have been for years and feeling good about myself again and thats all down to Ann.You could say Ann is my heroine and Im addicted to her! Looking forward to my next session (can't believe Im saying that about excercise).
My wife uses the phrase "No pain, no pain" and at 8.00am on a Saturday morning after a hard week's slog at work (+ the occasional lively Friday night) it would be easy to agree, throw away the alarm clock and turn over. In fact, too often that was the case. Who would miss me at the Gym anyway? In other words, if you're like me, needing a bit of a push and some discipline in getting yourself feeling fitter and better in yourself, Ann's Boot Camps are the place to come. Not only is it all organised for you, there are many other like-minded souls in exactly the same boat. The banter is great and the time often flies. The variety of locations that Ann chooses week to week adds to the experience. I already feel fitter and better in myself and, unlike the days of the dreaded gym, actually look forward to the next time. Why not come and join the club !!
