The Avril Earl Dance and Theatre Arts Centre in Guernsey provides drama, musical theatre and all genre of dance classes for children from aged 2 upwards and a selection of adult classes. Please contact us for full details.
Guernsey's premiere dance and theatre school
We pride ourselves on being a drama academy and dance school centre of excellence where a high technical standard is our goal whilst ensuring everyone has lots of fun. We have a team of qualified teachers who, between them have attained many years of dance and drama teaching and performing experience.
The Centre is a well established theatre arts and dance school offering a busy and exciting programme in dance through the syllabi of the ISTD, and LAMDA for drama and musical theatre. Our success in dance exams is second to none with pupils of all ages achieving a full pass rate over the many years the dance school has been teaching.
We can also claim huge success in staging our own musical theatre productions all fully cast from our talented pupils. Past shows include; 'Bugsy Malone', 'Peter Pan', 'Seussical' and 'Back to The 80's', which showcased the students talents and professionalism to immeasurable effect.
We offer other regular stage performing opportunities through the Guernsey Eisteddfod, dance festivals, charity performances, summer school showcases, One Act plays and musicals. We also host a very popular Summer School in August each year for both Guernsey & Jersey students where visiting West End performers, TV actors, and Commercial dance experts provide a week's course for our budding young stars. Plus we have been taking a large number of our students to the Dance World Cup competition for the last few years - these have included competing in Jersey, Sardinia, Paris and Austria and our students have brought home a great deal of medals!

Avril Earl A.I.S.T.D. took over as Principal in January 2006 from Lesley Blondel, and has since taken the school into a new era of what has already been a great history. She is a keen director and choreographer and has worked on many local pantomimes and productions . She opened the drama academy department at the Centre in 1998 and provides the private tuition for LAMDA examinations.

I trained with Avril Earl a few years ago and then began training in Contemporary Dance shortly after leaving The Centre and Guernsey.I also carried on with ballet. Now, four years on, I am starting a degree course at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds. I want to thank The Avril Earl Dance & Theatre Arts Centre for the training they gave me during the years I was with them, I wouldn't be in the position I am in now if it wasn't for them.
We always knew our son had a beautiful singing voice, but he wouldn't have had the confidence to share it without the careful nurturing and encouragement he received at this school. From a timid self-conscious child, barely able to speak in School Assembly, to a self assured, charming and confident young man, all thanks to Avril and her team. The Dance school has a warm and friendly atmosphere, and happy confident children who are a joy to be around.
i love the fact that i have a second family who are always there for me! I would never consider changing to a different dance school because we definitely have the most fun! It's a second home that welcomes those who like to dance and act for fun/ as a hobby, as well as for people who aspire to make it a career in the future. One of my favorite places to be!
I love this dance school and I've been dancing here since I was 3. I do 5 classes a week and at festival times more and more. I think they're the best in the Channel Islands - we do concerts and have opportunities to go away to competitions in Jersey and the UK. I'm extremely happy to be part of it. They are my 2nd family!
I can never say enough good things about the school. Avril and the team are dedicated, hard-working and always welcoming. All children are made to feel like they have unlimited potential, no matter what their age or ability, and this makes for a very positive environment. Most importantly, all the pupils at the school seem very happy to be there, and proud to perform and compete under the Avril Earl name.
My daughter truly enjoys her dance lessons and the staff and environment at the dance school are wonderful.
