about us

Aerial-i was established by Kevin Lajoie and offers a low level kite and pole aerial photography service for Guernsey and the Channel Islands including commercial, estate, promotion, events, private, bespoke and stock photography.

KAPture it

Kevin Lajoie has been a keen follower of Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) for several years. In August 2008 he became a fully fledged KAPer and, after gaining plenty of experience, established Aerial-i, a low level kite and pole aerial photography service for Guernsey and the Channel Islands providing commercial, estate, promotion, events, private, bespoke and stock photographs.

Although based in Guernsey, Kevin has KAPed in many other locations including the rest of the Channel Islands, southern England, Brittany, The Bahamas, Grand Cayman, and Australia.

Using KAP has also opened Kevin's eyes to the wider world of digital photography and you can see some fantastic examples of his work on Flickr and 500px.

Kite Aerial Photography (KAP)

KAP is the main focus of Aerial-i. The idea of hanging a camera from a kite is far from ground-breaking. Indeed, it is something that was first achieved well over 100 years ago with a massive kite to support a huge box camera capable of just one exposure. Now we find ourselves firmly within the digital age and taking beautiful 'bird's eye view' images is becoming increasingly popular throughout the world.

Pole Aerial Photography (PAP)

PAP is a discipline that Kevin was introduced to via Cris Benton's KAP Forum. It is an incredibly simple concept that can produce super low level aerial pictures for a wide range of subjects. PAP is a recent addition to Kevin's aerial arsenal and his current equipment can achieve landscape format pictures up to approximately 10 metres. Coupled with lightweight, wide angle cameras, the pole set up can also produce eye-catching overhead pictures.

Why use Aerial-i

Aerial-i can access areas that no other photographer can possibly hope to get to without the use of a form of aircraft. They can achieve the bird's eye view / vertical perspective that even aircraft cannot achieve without performing an uncomfortable and possibly risky manoeuvre. Aerial-i's bespoke service produces images whcih are virtually impossible to repeat as the camera is in continuous motion.

Kevin prides himself on offering a unique perspective, careful planning and customer focus. A large percentage of his KAP work has a target which requires favourable conditions to fly. On occasion a human element is thrown in which demands extra thought and communication. Kevin will listen carefully to what you want to achieve and aim to execute first time.

Property Photography

Different properties offer different challenges when trying to attain an aerial view from a kite. A workable, clear space and the right weather conditions are the base requirements for being able to carry out a kite aerial property shot.

Showing off a property in a better light is not all about seeing it from very high up. Kevin also has a very lightweight carbon fibre pole that can take pictures up to 10 metres above ground level. This extra elevation is eye catching and likely to catch a viewer's attention over the standard ground based photograph.

What Aerial-i can offer estate agents and homeowners:

Low level aerial photography shows both the extent of the property and its position on the island. As an estate agent, making your marketing material stand out from your competitors will give your business a clear edge when it comes to attracting prospective buyers. Aerial-i can help present a showcase property in a sought-after location in a way no other agent can compete with.

Fractal Photographs

A creative option which homeowners might consider to turn their property into something more artistic. Examples of fractal processing (of varying subjects) can be seen on Flickr.

Panoramic Photographs

Pole Aerial Photography can offer control allowing more possibilities for panoramic images where photos are stitched together to create sweeping landscapes. Kite aerial panoramas are also possible but the wind conditions must be reasonably stable as these wide angle composites are traditionally taken from a fixed point rather than a constantly moving platform.

Whether it is a general landscape of a favourite area or a specific target, Aerial-i are ready to KAPture it.

An absolutely bespoke and personal service. If you are looking for the perfect gift for that person who seems to want for nothing or simply want to treat yourself then look no further. These photographs of property, a specific Guernsey view or something of your choosing are truly unique and offer a completely different perspective on Guernsey life. I would highly recommend Kevin and Aerial-i to anyone. Marion Piercey
