Skills For Growth is a registered charity and is a not-for-profit organisation. Our aim is to develop the skills of individuals and communities to respond to the changing needs of a 21st Century workforce.
We are committed to providing a high quality customer service to all of our clients, be they young people, employers, parents, careers services or any other agency.
We have been providing Government funded training for over 25 years and we have a sound reputation for delivering high quality training and achieving high success rates.
Training for Young People
We provide training for young people in many sector areas. The aim is to combine training, leading to a recognised qualification, with employment in local businesses. Skills For Growth has been delivering training to 16-24 year olds for the past 25 years and has a reputation built on quality and responsiveness.
We offer Apprenticeships, Entry to Employment and Train to Gain courses.
Apprenticeships
Apprenticeship programmes aim to give young school and college leavers the opportunity to acquire a range of occupational skills available at Level 2 (new entry level) and Level 3 (advanced).
Apprenticeships are delivered through a combination of on-and-off the job training, the majority of which is in the workplace.
The programme includes a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) which assesses a range of practical skills in the workplace to demonstrate competence to a national standard.
The following areas are offered at Levels 2 and 3 as part of an Apprenticeship programme:
- Business Administration
- Children's Care, Learning & Development
- Customer Service
- Hairdressing
- Information Technology
Entry to Employment
This programme is designed to assist young people who may have left school with no formal qualifications. They have a period of time in our training centre developing their basic skills, learning about the world of work as well as improving their motivation and confidence to succeed at work.
Work experience is part of the EtoE programme and we are always pleased to hear from employers willing to offer work experience opportunities. There are no costs to the employer and it can be a useful way of assessing a young person prior to their being offered an Apprenticeship or employment opportunity.

Train to Gain
