Nestling deep on the southeast facing slopes of Happy Valley Meopham Gravesend is a wonderful vineyard producing a good selection of white wine, Rose wine and Sparkling wine.
This Kentish vineyard was planted in 1991 by the present owners with help from their family and friends.
Meopham Valley Vineyard is an organic vineyard; no chemicals are used to protect the vines or improve the soil other that those authorized by the Soil Association. Some of the wines produced are organic, some are produced conventionally.
It may be difficult to believe that in the heart of Gravesend this family are growing seven varieties of grapes,including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris and this enables them to produce a good selection of organic wines including:
- White Wine
- Rose Wine
- Sparkling Wine
Meopham Valley Vineyard are also licensed to sell their wine from their vineyard shop at the rear of Norway House. (see map for location). The normal opening hours are Friday and Saturday from 11am to dusk, however the shop does open some Sundays when the work in the vineyard allows.
Wine can be purchased by the bottle or the case. It is also possible to order boxes of wine as gifts from a Kentish Vineyard to be shipped anywhere in the UK. Free wine tastings are always available.
It is also possible to book a vineyard tour for up to 25 people. As well as a wonderful insight into the way that the grapes are grown and nurtured there is also a free wine tasting as the tour progresses.
