Thorns Farm Bed & Breakfast offers a choice of two appartments in the beautifully converted stable block adjacent to the farmhouse home of B&B owners, Grethe and Ove Andresen.
Originally from Denmark, the couple fell in love with the idyllic location of Thorns Farm, off Thorns Lane in Barrowby, near Grantham, and their two B&B properties and two, out of five, well-stocked fishing lakes attract visitors from far and wide.

Thorns Farm Camping Site
This small campsite at Thorns Farm has space for 5 caravans/motor homes and a number of tents. This delightful, well-maintained campsite near Grantham has fresh water supply, electric hook-ups and a chemical disposal unit and it is just a £8 per night including electricity.
This campsite is a real find, nestled between two ponds and any early risers are likely to see an abundance of wildlife. Frequently spotted by campers in the surroundings fields and near the ponds are deer, fox, badger, rabbits …… pheasants, ducks, geese, heron, kingfisher …….. dragonflies, butterflies …….. carp, roach. Both camping and B&B guests can fish in the two ponds where one gentleman caught over 30 fish in one afternoon including a 14lb carp!
The nearest neighbours are a fold of highland cattle, now made-up of Robin, Anne, Karoline (with her unusual white calf Daisy), Flora (with her calf) and a 1 year old steer.
The campsite has very easy access from the A1 and although not far away the site is totally screened off from the A1 by woodland which means that the road is hardly noticeable, visually or audibly.
This is a superb camping site fully secure, well maintained, fresh water, hook-ups, loads of space for motor homes, tents and caravans and a lovely large pond to walk round and fish if you want to. The site is accessible, very close to Grantham, Belton House, Belvoir Castle, Newark Showground, Stamford, Lincoln and Nottingham.

I have worked in Grantham for many months and really enjoy my stay at Thorns Farm. It is truly my “home from home”. I arrive on a Monday and go back home to the family for the weekend. The apartment is very warm, cosy and comfortable. The kitchen is a real bonus, it is great to be able to cook my own evening meal - much nicer and cheaper than having to eat out every night. The accommodation offers everything I need during the week.
I was attending a course for my job in Grantham, I decided to stay at Thorns Farm, I loved the idea of combining Bed and Breakfast and Self Catering this made my stay very flexible. I found the owners to be very accomodating and pleasant to deal with,The accomodation was very clean and fresh. I would stay again without hesitation and recommend Thorns Farm to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in and around Grantham. 5*
Normally when I stay away from home I don’t sleep very well - not this time. The beds were very comfortable, but best of all it was very quiet and no light pollution. Great rural B&B, yet so close to the A1 and Grantham. Will recommend.

The apartments at Thorns Farm are beautifully decorated. I stayed at Thorns Farm for over a month as I was in the process of relocating with work, so I was in different apartments throughout my stay. Each room was really comfortable and everything was made up to a very high standard. The little touches are what make your stay here perfect. It really is a home from home, extended stays in hotels and bed and breakfasts can be tedious but with Thorns Farm you have don’t feel as if you are in a bed and breakfast with each apartment having its own living space, kitchen and also free wifi access. Both Grethe and husband are genuinely interested in making your stay great and are really friendly and welcoming. All in all, if I had to recommend somewhere to stay in the area I wouldn’t hesitate to point anyone in the direction of Thorns Farm.

Had a very pleasant stay at Thorns Farm with my husband and nine week old baby. It certainly provided us with a home from home for us. The make your own breakfast suited us perfectly as with a newborn set breakfast times can be difficult! Grethe was the perfect host and offered a friendly welcome. I would not hesitate to stay again or recommend to a friend.

Great combination between self-catering and B&B. Exhibited at BMFA, Barkston Heath so left early in the morning but could still have breakfast. Made sandwiches for lunch and came back after a tiring day to an easy microwave meal and a few beers. Lovely weekend. Will be back next year. Thanks
