Television Star Jeremy Kyle will be the VIP guest at The South West Snooker Academy in September, when the Gloucester venue plays host to the National Disability Snooker Championship.

Kyle, more used to putting his guests under the spotlight, will find his snooker skills under scrutiny, as the star has promised to take up the challenge of playing a frame of snooker.

The Disability Snooker Championship is a long standing event, run under the auspices of the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) and the WPBSA.

Previous winners include Bolton’s Tony Southern who will be back to defend the title he won in 2011.

The organisers have chosen to move the event to the superb snooker facilities at SWSA, commenting "There isn't a better facility anywhere in the UK, or probably in the world.

"Our competitors will have the opportunity to play on the World Snooker tables, where the stars of the sport compete regularly.

"Everything at The SWSA is well set up to cater to any disability, including lifts, level access, parking."

As well as the Championship, the event, which runs 6-8 September, will include Coaching from WPBSA qualified Coaches, who specialise in working with players who have special needs.

The Paul Hunter Road Show will also be in attendance, offering fun activities for guests and players to try their hand at.

Morray Dolan, Commercial Director of The Capital Venue said "We are delighted to be welcoming Jeremy to The Capital Venue.

"This event is such a worthy cause and offers tremendous opportunities to those with special requirements to enjoy the sport they love."

The South West Snooker Academy has been accredited as a Centre of Excellence by both the WPBSA and the EBSA, the World and European Governing Bodies.

The Academy has been selected by World Snooker to stage a number of major professional events and every professional snooker star has appeared at the venue.

At the other end of the scale trained staff at South West Snooker Academy work closely with juniors, community groups, schools, as well as aspiring players, providing coaching and social snooker.

WPBSA trained Coaches at South West Snooker Academy also work in close liaison with Cue Zone into Schools, providing Functional Snooker to the local community.

South West Snooker Academy has also been endorsed by the Paul Hunter Foundation and the Paul Hunter Road Show will be providing additional fun activities for players and guests.

Steve Davis recently attended the launch at South West Snooker Academy of Functional Snooker and Snooker Youth Club.
