Auto Trans were great, I traveled from Oxford to use them as they are the only FATE qualified engineers in the area. They immediately diagnosed the most likely problem with the gear box on my 2004 100k miles BMW and took me through the various options and costs. We decided that a gearbox service was the best option and I booked my car in that week. The guys carried out the work whilst I had a cup of tea and showed me the sump and condition of the oil and gave the gear box a clean bill of health. Since the work has been carried out the car changes gear much more smoothly and the grinding noise has gone. They are very friendly, knowledgeable and professional and I would have no hesitation in recommending them or using them again - many thanks lads!

When my Jaguar XJ8 developed an auto gearbox fault all my dealership could suggest was an exchange gearbox.I found Auto Trans through their website and took the car to Douglas Pretty who drove the car and accurately identified the problem. His team of specialists had fixed the car within a week, rebuilding the whole gearbox to 'as-new' condition.The cost was just one third of the estimate from Juguar and the level of customer service I received was exceptional.Many thanks again to Douglas and his team - I would highly recommend you.
I gave Autotrans a ring for a quote to change the transmission oil in my Subaru. Totally impressed with the price and Doug also changed the differential oils as well while he had the car. It was an absolute pleasure to find a genuine, Honest garage to deal with such as Auto-Trans in Gloucester. They sorted out a problem with the auto gearbox on my wifes MGF in a day. Nothing was too much trouble and no massive bill for unnessasary parts. All of the staff were very freindly but also very professional.After being ripped off to the tune of £500 by my local MG Specialist it was great to do bussiness with someone who actually knows what they are doing. brilliant service, nice people, highly recommended.
Superb, friendly and very professional service. I started to have problems with my automatic gearbox and rather than go to my main dealer, who have no experience in actual gearbox repair, I decided to give Doug Pretty a call at Auto Trans. He got me straight in for a diagnostic and confirmed my fears of engine coolant in the gearbox, which is quite a common fault on the standard gearbox oil coolers on Vectra C's of a certain age and it severely damages the autobox. He allowed me to leave the car with him and a little over a week later I had my car back with a complete remanufactured gearbox and aftermarket oil cooler. Dougs workshop is the cleanest I have ever seen and I highly recommend to anyone who has problems with there autobox to give him a call, you will not be disappointed!!!

Autotrans gloucester provided me with an exceptional service. A few weeks ago i went to my local audi dealership for problems with my gearbox, the technicians said that its the new cvt transmission and to fix the problem it would be a new gearbox. I was not completely convinced so i popped into autotrans and they diagnosed my car while i waited. They later repaired my gearbox for a fraction of the price of my local dealership! The staff are very friendly and polite and i've never seen a workshop so clean.Highly Recommended
The service from Doug Pretty can only be described as exceptional in every way. He is polite, helpful beyond all expectations, completely honest and most importantly, does an excellent job.Doug's tenacity meant that an engine fault that was nothing to do with the transmission and something my service engineer couldn't find was corrected by Auto Trans- Doug wouldn't give up until he found it and even loaned me the engine part until mine came in.This is a company that deserves to do well, takes pride in providing the best service possible and I'd challenge anyone to show me a company that could do a better job.

A very professional and committed specialist. Auto Trans refurbished my 1966 Daimler auto box over a 2 week period (as quoted) and now it's like new. Cost was as quoted with no hidden extras. The Proprietor, Douglas Pretty, is obviously a man who like to do a thorough job to the highest standards and clearly he succeeds. I have no hesitation in recommending this firm to you....you will not be disappointed.
It is very rare for me to be motivated to say anything positive about a garage but Auto Trans (Gloucester) is an honest fair and very helpful company. Their price was also very good, and they knew they could have actually charged me much more.They diagnosed a problem with by automatic transmission which could not be indentified by a dealership where I had taken it twice. Their diagnostic was half the price and when they weren't 100% confident they had fixed the problem they took the car back for free and did some more checks. They had fixed the problem which turned out to be an electrical fault which effected the Engine Management System. Not even their area of expertise I suppose.They called me a week later to check that the car was OK and told me they were never satisfied until they had completely fixed the problem. Completely honest and fairly priced - do you know another garage like that?? I asked them if they would be billing me for taking the car back again and Doug said "no, but if you were satisfied could you leave a comment on this site - so here it is!"Give them a try.
