Experienced Teacher.
Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Stephanie Price and I'm a tutor in the areas of Key Stage One, Two and Special Educational Needs, based in the Formby, Southport and Ormskirk area.
I believe in making tutoring sessions interesting as well as informative and constructive. I offer tuition for a wide range of students with many kinds of learning objectives and challenges within Key Stages One and Two, and additionally for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Learning Difficulties. I can tutor pupils in small groups or one-to-one, and in this way I can meet their individual requirements.
I have been teaching in the compulsory education sector (especially Special Educational Needs) for the whole of my career since graduating from my Post Graduate Certificate in Continuing Education. I have taught children from seven to sixteen years of age with a variety of disabilities from complex emotional behavioural disorders to moderate learning difficulties. Ofsted and HMI have graded my lesson planning and delivery as ‘excellent’, showing the application of varied teaching strategies to meet individual pupil's learning styles and increasing their access to the curriculum.
I teach by positive encouragement and in this way ensure that pupils fulfill their distinctive profiles. My aim is to optimise their academic performance at whatever stage of their education they might be. As pupils all learn in different ways, I like to teach sessions according to the pupil’s individual needs. I try to inject fun and humour into my teaching which increases the pupils learning and ability to understand some of the more difficult concepts. Additionally, I have a large variety of resources that are tailored to meet the pupil's needs.
I have long experience working as a teacher in both the classroom environment and in managing a teaching team supporting a child in the community. In addition, I have also completed consultancy work, advising and supporting teachers in the areas of behaviour management and teaching and learning in the Special Educational sector.
My wide and comprehensive experience encompasses the teaching of pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Emotional Behavioural Difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Prada-Willi Syndrome, Downs Syndrome and the visually impaired.
