Welcome to Crossroads

Crossroads here in the Forest of Dean for all your domicilliary care

Many of us have a parent, spouse or child who needs caring for around the clock. This is a demanding role, yet often there is nobody to care for the carer. No-one to ease the load, and nobody to give them a much-needed break. And that’s why Forest of Dean Crossroads was set up.

Officially, Crossroads is a Domiciliary Care Agency. In reality, it’s a lifeline. Crossroads provides much-needed respite care for carers and the loved ones they care for throughout the Forest of Dean area. A charity, it’s part of the largest scheme caring for carers across England, Scotland and Wales.

Two Forest of Dean day centres

Forest of Dean Crossroads runs two day centres, in Cinderford and Lydney. The office is in Cinderford.

Are you a carer?

You may not see yourself as a carer, but simply the wife, partner, daughter, brother or friend of a person who needs help. This person may have a physical or mental disability or illness and need support to remain at home. Or they may just be elderly or frail.
Whatever you call yourself, as a carer you are providing regular and substantial unpaid help. And this can be time-consuming and stressful.

Need a break? Need help? Need advice? Please get in touch.
You have a right to have your needs considered and to receive support when you require it.

Please contact Crossroads to discuss in more detail how they could help.

How can Crossroads help you?

Forest of Dean Crossroads have a team of caring and professional support workers who they are proud of. They provide respite care for carers, freeing them for a much-needed break, and assisting with any of these domiciliary care tasks:

• Getting up in the morning
• Dressing
• Toileting
• Going to bed at night
• Shopping
• Meal preparation
• Management of continence
• Assistance with medication
• Light domestic duties such as laundry
• Socialising
• Attending appointments.

Advice too

Crossroads
is happy to advise you, even if their scheme cannot offer practical help. For example, you may be eligible for a Carers Assessment through Social Services or need advice on benefits available. Crossroads can also put you in touch with other organisations who may be able to give you the support you require.
