We all know that chimney sweeping is maybe not top on your list of priorities, but maybe it should be. Every year fire statistics show that over 31 thousand houses have chimney fires! This is largely due to not having the chimney swept often enough or burning fuel that is inappropriate for the appliance which can cause a build up of tar in the chimney.
The results of these findings?
Most insurance companies will not pay out unless the householder has a certificate of sweeping issued by a recognized body.
If the fire brigade is called out and it is proved that the fire was caused through not maintaining the chimney, then in some areas the local council has been known to bill for the fire service.
Use an expert
We’re all guilty of trying to cut corners and do jobs ourselves but sometimes it’s just not worth the risk, for the sake of a few pounds it’s better to use an expert who will give you peace of mind knowing that the jobs done safely and correctly. Remember, a clean chimney doesn’t catch fire.

Chim Chiminey will supply and fit carbon monoxide alarms for use with any heating appliance. Many people think that carbon monoxide only comes from gas appliances but any fuel that burns creates this gas including solid fuel.
