On Thursday 4 January Hart District Councillors approved the draft Proposed Submission version of the Hart Local Plan: Strategy and Sites 2016 – 2032 and agreed to go out to public consultation in February.

During the meeting councillors agreed the Plan that outlines future development requirements within Hart up until 2032. The Plan includes policies setting out how the Council will meet future housing, social and economic needs, whilst recognising the importance of Hart’s natural and built environment and its heritage assets to the quality of life, biodiversity and to the place where people live and work.

Speaking about the Plan, Cllr David Neighbour Leader of Hart District Council, said: “This Plan has been prepared following several rounds of consultation with residents and stakeholders, using a range of technical evidence and advice.

“This Local plan has been a long time coming, but I believe this version of it will provide both the new homes the district needs as well as protecting our existing communities from inappropriate development.

“This final stage of consultation offers residents and stakeholders an opportunity to comment on the proposed submission. I encourage everyone to read the plan and respond to this consultation, so that their views can be taken into account by central government.”

Following the consultation, which will be open for comments between the 9 February and the 26 March, the document will be finalised for submission, alongside all comments made, to an independent Inspector to be examined in Summer 2018.

All information on the consultation will be available on the Council’s website in due course. In the meantime, please visit www.hart.gov.uk/local-plan for more information.
