130 people attended the fundraising garden party, which has been held every summer for 15 years, by dedicated supporters of Phyllis Tuckwell – a local Hospice Care charity which provides supportive and end of life care for patients and families affected by cancer or another serious progressive illness. Fundraising events such as this are vital to the charity, which needs to raise over £15,000 a day to be able to provide the outstanding care it offers.
“We would like to offer our most sincere thanks to George and Jean Wiltshire, and Ray and Ann Fulford, for the dedication and support which they have shown Phyllis Tuckwell over the past 15 years,” said Peter Foxton, Head of Fundraising at Phyllis Tuckwell. “Over that time, they have raised an incredible £25,000 to fund the Hospice Care which we provide, and for this we cannot thank them enough.”
Supporters and attendees of the garden parties will be sad to see the end of this annual event, which has built up a loyal following over the years.
“We would like to thank to Rosie and Vanessa from Homebase, who potted all the plants and whose manager donated the planter,” said Jean. “Our thanks also go to B&Q Farnborough, who donated a wooden bench, Iceland for their donation of wine, Elphicks for their constant support in the form of cream tea vouchers, and Sainsburys South Street for donating the strawberries.”
