Help Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice continue their care throughout Farnham and South West Surrey
Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice situated in Farnham, Surrey offers Specialist Palliative Care to adults in Farnham and South West Surrey who are facing the end of their life and to those who love and care for them. We are all hugely fortunate to have such an exceptional Hospice in Farnham available to us and we are determined to continue developing our services for local people. As with the majority of charitable organisations, all of our services are free of charge, but it costs over £10,000 a day to offer such an exceptional standard of medical care, which is why your financial support is so important.
Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice takes patients from Farnham and the surrounding towns, providing Specialist Palliative Care services to a population of over 600,000 people.
2009 marks the 30th anniversary of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham. When we opened in 1979, we were revolutionary. We launched into a world that knew very little about the special care needs of the dying and those close to them. We gradually made an impact, not only in the provision of this specialist care, but also in its research and education. We have achieved much in our rich and challenging 30 year history, including seeing other similar charitable organisations opening throughout the UK.
We want to do everything we can to safeguard our future and ensure that Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and its services are always available to adults in Farnham and South West Surrey who need us in the next 30 years, and beyond. Your support in helping us to achieve this is therefore as crucial as ever.
Over the last 30 years, there have been more than 10,000 admissions to the Farnham Hospice, which means we have been able to have a significant impact on more than 30,000 people's lives. In addition, since the mid 1990's, we have also been taking all of our services into people's homes - last year, for example, we supported over 670 patients and families in their own homes. Hospice support is provided to the family as well as the patient for as long as is necessary.
We are optimistic and hopeful about our future and the opportunities to support local people at a vulnerable time in their lives. Our challenge lies in establishing sources of sustainable income in order to expand and develop our services at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and further into the community.
