I have to admit, I've walked past Candy Twist when walking up the Lion and Lamb yard in the past vowing to pop in when I had a moment. Having now stopped in for a cup of tea after a meeting, I wish I had done so sooner! A friendly atmosphere, tea served in a china pot, and despite my best efforts I still left with a selection of chocolates that were delicious!

Chocolate has long been lauded as a source of pleasure and well-being, but I doubt it has provided (in part at least) the stimulus for a house move. Early in 2007 we began the exciting but frightening process of moving from South West London to this neck of the woods. After 30 years of living in the Wimbledon area, this was a huge upheaval and our new patch had to be right - rural(ish) for him, within close proximity to civilisation for me. We visited Farnham on a couple of occasions and thought it a very pleasant place, so it was high on the list of desirable towns. One cold and damp day we started the serious Farnham inspection, and eventually the need for a cuppa became a real issue. We turned into the Lion and Lamb shopping yard and centre of chocolate paradise. The scent of chocolate wafted its way into our nostrils, and I was soon slurping my way through an aromatic glass of hot chocolate, while the Other Half fed his coffee addiction, and we both succumbed to the delights of the cake (more chocolate....) counter. The drinks were piping hot (very important - I hate lukewarm hot chocolate) the cakes delicious It all became clear in a flash - it had to be Farnham. Oh yes, the town was lovely, the outer environs delightful, but close proximity to Chocolat was an absolute necessity! And so it was in April that we became residents of Lower Bourne, and it is very good to be here. Their choice of chocolate goodies continues to feed our addiction (we can handle it...) their friendly service is a pleasure on every visit, and they have never failed to brighten the odd gloomy day. Things You Must Try. The afore-mentioned celebration cakes - bespoke, so individually crafted for all occasions and ages. Check out the brochure for some inspired designs. Trays of mini cakes - we had these for a party and they were both pretty and delicious, and disappeared within minutes. Chilli - yes, chilli - hot chocolate, and their hot spiced apple - guaranteed to raise a smile and warm the cockles on cold, damp,dark days. And their selection of gorgeous iced/ice cream drinks on (the one or two) hot days..... The entire chocolate collection! My special mention goes to the chilli (you really must try this combination!) chocs, the whisky chocs and the cookie crumb, & cinnamon chocs, which for me were highlights of the Christmas season. And dont forget - they do lunches too, so you could spend a whole day in Chocolate Heaven!

For the finest hot chocolate outside Belgium, this is the place to go. Its cosy atmosphere and friendly service make it a great place to meet friends and chat. We love the novelty chocolates, especially the Russian Roulette!
