Lion & Lamb statue

Bookmark and Share

As I was walking up the Lion & Lamb Yard, in the centre of Farnham, I realised an old friend had disappeared.  The statue of the Lion & Lamb on which countless Farnham children have spent a few minutes clambering over was no longer there.  I've heard rumours about a bath being placed on the plinth but that seems to have come and gone.  Where is the statue?  When will it be returned?  Presumably, the Farnham Authorities, whoever they are, have removed it but when will it return.  The Lion & Lamb Yard is now like a lady who has had her front teeth knocked out.  Remedial action is required.  Who can shed light on this?

Hello Hamish, Thanks for your posting. Lucinda Fleming,Farnham's Mayor has contacted thebestoffarnham to inform us, ''It went away to be cleaned. It is coming back ( minus black paint)I sat on the plinth in a bath for one day to raise money for my charity ( Brightwells Gostrey Centre) an old people's day centre which desperately needs a specially adapted bath. I raised just over £1000 which was fab ( local charity Hedgehogs donated £250) Panic over the Lion & Lamb statue has now been re-instated report abuse...

Hamish you must get down there again. I saw it - returned in glory - yesterday. The deep dense black paint has been removed, it's gloriously shiny, you can really see the depth and quality of the wood (oak?) it was made from. If someone can take a decent photograph of it PLEASE post it on here ... I didn't have a camera with me yesterday & want to send proof to Australian friends who were devastated that the statue - remembered from their childhood - had gone. It's marvellous to see the Statue restored, and the subsequent improvement to the whole cobbled street. Farnham rocks! report abuse...
