What is business networking?
Networking is an effective way to make new business contacts and develop mutually beneficial relationships that may lead to new business referrals or alliances. You will benefit by finding new customers, raising your business profile, sourcing new local suppliers, improving your confidence and receiving free advice. It's also a very enjoyable opportunity to socialise with other like-minded business people! Events hosted by thebestoffarnborough are largely unstructured, relaxed and very sociable occasions.
How do I prepare for the event?
Be sure you can quickly explain what you do and the sort of business you are looking for. Think of a memorable way to differentiate yourself and focus on the benefits you provide, so instead of saying "I'm an accountant..." say "I help small business owners maximise their profits..." Don't forget to bring plenty of business cards and a positive attitude!
What do I do when I get there?
Everyone attends for the same reason so you will find it very easy to start speaking others. The best initial approach is to find out about what other people do first. Look for ways in which you can help each other - there may not be a direct requirement for each other's services, but you might be able to create a business referral for someone you already know. It is standard practice to exchange business cards even if there's no immediate opportunity for any follow up business.
