Local libraries are encouraging children to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge during the school holidays – it’s FREE – and they'll get a 3D circus stage to build and stickers to start them off. Then as they read their way through six books, they help the Circus Stars progress through Practice and Rehearsal to their ultimate goal – Showtime! Once the challenge is completed a medal and certificate are awarded too.

Aimed at 4 to 11 year olds, children can choose any books they want from the library to complete the Circus Stars challenge: story books, information books and audio books. The challenge is designed to introduce children to new books and authors as well as building their confidence in reading.

The Summer Reading Challenge will be running in Hampshire Libraries from 18 July to 11 September 2011.
