Farnborough Leisure Centre and Aldershot Indoor Pools were assessed as part of the nationwide Quest Quality Scheme, which recognises good practice in the sports and leisure industry.
Farnborough Leisure Centre achieved the ‘excellent’ rating with a score of 88%, which ranks the centre in the top 10 in the country. Aldershot Indoor Pools achieved a ‘highly commended’ rating with a score of 80%. The average score nationally is 74%.
The assessment looked at 22 areas of the facilities management including customer care, marketing, maintenance, I.T and health and safety. More than 1,000 leisure facilities across the country are registered for the scheme. As part of the assessment, site visits were also carried out by mystery shoppers.
The leisure centre, along with the pools complex have been run on the Council’s behalf by the DC Leisure Group since 2002.
Councillor Diane Bedford, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Youth at Rushmoor Borough Council said: “We are very pleased with the results of the Quest assessment which recognises how well our leisure facilities are being run. Through our partnership with DC Leisure our facilities are among the top performing sites in the country.”
Swimmers can also once again enjoy the Lido in Guildford Road, Aldershot. Owned by Rushmoor Borough Council and run by DC Leisure, the Aldershot facility is one of the largest open-air pools in the country. Offering three colourful water flumes, a diving board, toddlers’ paddling pool and sandpit as well as a picnic and basketball area.
The Lido opened this half term week until 5 June from 10am to 6pm and after that, it will be available weekends only until July 1 when it opens daily until September.
