The playing fields were transformed into a summer festival for the event organised by Rushmoor Borough Council and other local organisations including Hampshire County Council, the Police, Rushmoor Schools Plus and the West End Centre.

The event was packed with attractions including live music from local bands and even a hot air balloon.

Visitors were treated to performances of belly dancing, martial arts, African drumming, hip-hop, hula hooping and Nepalese dance as well as taking part in workshops and having a go themselves.  Other fun activities included a bouncy assault course, climbing wall and circus skills as well as face painting, storytelling and crafts – all free of charge.

The playing fields and marquees were decorated with colourful bunting and streamers created by local school children from Farnborough Grange Nursery and Infant School and Cherrywood Community Primary School who took part in workshops before the event.

Julia Graham from Rushmoor Borough Council who has organised the event said: “We had a wonderful day with the whole community coming together and it was great to see so many people enjoying themselves, trying something new and meeting friends and neighbours.”

Further information about other events in Rushmoor over the summer is available at www.rushmoor.gov.uk/events.
