125 Food Businesses celebrate Excellence in Food Hygiene

I was delighted to read that more than 125 food businesses in Aldershot and Farnborough are now celebrating after being awarded “excellent” certificates for food hygiene.

This is the crowning success of the safe2eat scheme initiated 2 years ago to help drive up food hygiene standards across the borough. All kinds of premises were inspected by the council including schools, residential homes, catering companies and restaurants and cafes. The council hosted a breakfast to celebrate and 80 people from 42 Excellent Businesses were there to receive their awards

Since the scheme launched in January 2008, the number of unsatisfactory businesses in Rushmoor has fallen from 12 to just 3. In addition, the number of food premises in the borough rated as excellent in January 2009 has now risen to more than 125.

Councillor Masterson added: “While it is right that the Council’s Food Safety Service directs its attention at the worst businesses, this event represents a great opportunity to celebrate the excellent businesses.”

The businesses were rewarded with a certificate and window sticker, which display their excellent status so look out for them!
