Welcome to Total Body Boot Camp

Our mission is to bring health, fitness, nutrition and wellbeing out of the gym and into the great outdoors with a holistic, challenging and fun approach

Total Body Bootcamp are a brand new Bootcamp company based in Denny. Formed by Personal Trainers Moira Dineley and Allan Fleming, they specialise in functional strength training, fat loss, conditioning and nutrition. We run our sessions indoors and outdoors depending on weather/ time of year, says Moira…

"Our mission is to bring health, fitness, nutrition and wellbeing out of the gym and into the great outdoors with a holistic, challenging and fun approach."

Bootcamp sessions are already operating in Denny and are proving very popular with everyone across all ages, fitness levels and experience. Each session lasts 60 minutes.

Explains Allan: "The approach we use is akin to a group personal training session where we really focus on corrective exercises and mobility drills. Through our training and experience we can apply techniques to correct and prevent common problems such as postural alignment, joint instability, functional movement patterns and other similar issues. A solid base of core and muscular strength is the foundation to overall physical health, fitness and gaining and maintaining a lean body."

He adds: "When asked to picture a typical "fat loss" workout, people can often see themselves running for hours on the treadmill each week and hating every minute of it. That's why so many people give up! Instead, during our bootcamp, you'll be carrying out a series of exercises using bodyweight, agility drills and the landscape. Training may also involve utilising bodyweight suspension equipment, Kettlebells, a tractor tyre or other fun pieces of kit, while losing fat safely with the highly effective, fat-blasting routines of the Total Body Bootcamp workouts."

Advice on Losing Fat

To lose fat, you have to do what the average person doesn't do. No matter how much you want to believe it, thousands of crunches is not going to take off any inches from your waist or fat from your abs.

The four main keys to fat loss are:

1) Nutrition

2) Interval training

3) Functional strength training

4) Metabolic conditioning

All of the above principles are the prime focus of Total Body Bootcamp workouts. Support through nutritional guidance, education and feedback are provided using weekly food diaries.

Fat Loss Myths:

  • Crash dieting

Crash dieting is not an effective dieting strategy... not even for a party in one week's time.

In fact, denying your body of calories will quickly lead to catabolism (breakdown of muscle tissue for fuel) and subsequently slump your metabolism. You'll also be hungry, tired and far more likely to binge - not conducive to looking or feeling good and usually a sure fire ticket to soul destroying yo yo dieting. Instead, focus on eating really clean, high protein, high veg, complex carbohydrate, small meals on a very frequent basis. If you really have left it last minute and need to get results ultra quickly, then eat 6 small meals a day following the meat, fish and veg protocol - consuming a rainbow of colourful vegetables especially greens and lean protien (ie eggs, lean meats, fish, soya, quorn etc).

  • Low fat foods:

Foods labelled 'low fat' or 'reduced fat' are always good for you.

Sadly they're not. Legally, foods that carry these labels have to have less than half the fat content of their full fat counterparts, but that by no means makes them healthy. Ask yourself if the food is clean, or whether its had a bunch of artificial sweeteners etc added to it. Also remember that clean foods will fill you up and help stop you craving sugars and fatty foods if you eat them at regular intervals throughout the day.

Cutting out on unhealthy snacking and focusing on eating regularly (every 2-3 hours) is CRITICAL to your fat loss success. What you snack on is also a key issue - again keep it clean - and incorporate higher protein and lower complex carbohydrates into your snacks as a protein positive nutrition plan has what is known as a higher thermic effect of feeding and thus keep you feeling fuller for longer.
