The House

The house was built c1753 and is set in 60 acres of garden and parkland that has been planted with trees, shrubs and rhododendrons over the generations.

It was originally the home of Betty Harvie Anderson, the Conservative MP for East Renfrewshire between 1959 & 1979 and who was the first woman deputy speaker of parliament.
Amongst her guests to Quarter during this time was the then up and coming future Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

On retirement Betty was given a life peerage and took the title Baroness Skrimshire of Quarter.

Breakfast is served in the lovely Dinning Room with its original plasterwork on the ceiling and wood panelling on the walls.

It will be served between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. If you would like it at any other time or if you have a special diet please ask Pippa.
