We provide a wide range of services to give people with mental health empowerment and a better quality of life.

What We Do

 

Established in 1981, the Falkirk and District Association for Mental Health is a membership organisation managed by a Board of Directors. We have 13 members of staff and 106 volunteers.

 

Our services provide support to those people with mental health problems and include:

 

  • Drop In Centre
  • Service Users and Carers Reference Group
  • Counselling
  • Activity Groups
  • Resource Room/Library
  • Support for Carers
  • Befriending
  • Support Groups
  • Link Service

Drop In Centre

 

Open to people aged 16+, the Drop in Centre is a great place to have a chat over coffee and enjoy various activities. Specific problems can be discussed on a one to one basis, and there is always someone around to listen.

 

 

Service Users and Carers Reference Group

 

This group meets once a month and offers friendship and support. All members have experienced mental health and the group provides a good forum to discuss ways of improving existing adult mental health services.

 

 

Counselling

 

We offer a FREE of charge counselling service (accredited by COSCA) to anyone aged 16+ who lives in Falkirk and District. Please visit our website for further details.

 

 

Activities

 

Activities help promote recovery and increase confidence. Our current activities include:

 

  • Allsorts Women's Group
  • The Media Group
  • Next Steps Course

“I am a carer of someone who has mental health problems. I attend the carers support group and I cannot tell you just how important it is to me to be with people who understand the difficulties of being a carer. The group provides support, information, and real friendship…….you are never judged and always valued…!
