Phonic FM evolved out of a radio station set up in 2003 to support Exeter’s annual Vibraphonic Festival.

Our output is largely music, both live and recorded, focusing on those tunes and genres you won’t often hear on mainstream radio.

We support the arts (in the widest sense) in and around the Exeter area. It also seeks to publicise events as well as encouraging innovation and participation.  In the five years it has been on-air Phonic has already supported a vast array of artists, events and musical styles.

We are committed to encouraging participation and are always seeking new approaches to both content and output. If you have an idea for a show that is not currently on-air please contact programming@phonic.fm detailing your ideas, experience and skills.

We also have a good working relationship with the Sound Gallery studio which is based near the Phonic FM studio, and allows us  the facility to broadcast musicians ‘live’ or ‘as live’.

Phonic FM has recently extended its five-year license to broadcast on 106.8 FM within a five-kilometre radius of Exeter from its studios at Exeter Phoenix. This will keep the station on-air until at least 2018.
