Evesham Tour Guides have been given £250 from Vecta funds.

Members of VECTA responded to a request for assistance with funding by deciding to donate £250 towards the setting-up and maintenance of a website for the Evesham Town Guides.

"This is just the sort of thing that Vecta should to be doing," said VECTA chairman Vernon Powell. "This will help encourage more visitors to Evesham town and have a knock-on effect for our traders."

Earlier, Mr Powell told the first meeting of the newly-elected executive committee: "This is a big year for this organisation. We have got to demonstrate to the people out there that we are going forward and doing all we can for Evesham town and area."

Looking forward, Mr Powell said when the Evesham High Street enhancement scheme and the Market Square scheme were completed they had got to have a look at improving traffic flow around Evesham town centre and also try to attract more shops into the centre of Evesham.
