The Hub . Epsom is a first – stop shop run by a local charitable organisation run by disabled people catering specifically for the needs of people with a disability and carers. It acts as a gateway to information, advice, advocacy and services they need to live more independently. Based in Epsom Town Centre at 131 High Street, so it is easy to find.
Why have we opened The Hub?
National Government Policy ‘Putting People First’ requires that all local authorities work closely with user led organisations, partners and the voluntary sector to deliver care and support which put people in control of the services they receive. This is known as personalisation.
Personalised care has been rolled out through the county and is now available across the whole of Surrey.
Information and advice as a universal service available to everyone is the foundation stone of personalisation.
The aim of The Hub is to promote the independence of disabled people by helping them to make more informed choices about the different care and support available to them in the community.
What Support is Available?
Volunteers, who themselves are disabled or are carers, are there to answer your questions. They have their own experiences to draw upon and are specially trained to advise on a range of issues such a transport, benefits, services and access to mobility equipment
They can also provide printed and online information and advice that is available in a range of accessible formats such as easy read, audio and Braille.
The new Surrey Information Point website www.surreyinformationpoint.org.uk is available to browse in The Hub providing a directory of services, activities and facilities that brings together in one place the local information that people need to be independent and to make the right choices for themselves and their families

- Action for Carers Surrey
These organisations all promote individuals right and support people to live independently. So it is vital they get to hear what people want, and act upon it
