The online self assessment return deadline is 31st January – and that’s for filing and paying your tax – it must be with HM Revenue & Customs by the 31st.
If you don’t file by then - that’s an automatic £100 late filing penalty.
If you still haven’t done it by 30th April – then it’s £10 per day for up to 90 days
And it’s not just late filing penalties – there’s also late payment penalties.
If you wanted to file a paper return – the deadline for that was 31st October – so if you missed that – dread to think what penalties have been run up by now – and are still accumulating.
Unless you really understand the way Tax works – it can seem very complicated – but it has to be done.
