Situated in the bustling Haymarket area of Edinburgh, The Mercat Bar exudes a certain sense of a home away from home. With its stylish interior and freshly cooked food The Mercat Bars' welcoming athmosphere is easily felt upon entrance. A team of highly trained staff are more than willing to provide all of their customers with sterling service accompanied with a smile.
Taken over in September 2005 by Graham Blakie, The Mercat Bar started its journey towards becoming the established gastro pub business that it is today. In January 2006 an old school friend, Chris Reid, joined The Mercat team as manager. Together this partnership transformed the old Mercat Bar into a fully recognisable bar and restaurant that promises to cater for everyone's needs.

Food at The Mercat Bar is prepared in house by the highly experienced and respected Head Chef, Claire Allan late of The Vintner's Rooms. Claire and her team use only the freshest, locally sourced, ingredients to create wonderful gastro pub style meals. CLick here to view the menus
Functions
The Mercat function room is an ideal venue for corporate meetings and seminars holding up to 50 people. Coffee, tea and water can be provided as part of the package price, canapes can be supplied on request and a full waiter services or buffet can be arranged.
As a party venue the function room can hold approximately 120 people standing. Buffets can be arranged, there is a seperate bar, waiter service can be provided. Appropriate music and audio visual equipment can be provided by the mamagement team or The Mercat Bar can accommodate your own DJ.

The best bar I went to in Edinburgh â the staff were so friendly and welcoming, much better than any of the bars we visited in the centre. Also really enjoyed the food, I think the landlordâs name is Graham, he was the most welcoming patron I met in Edinburgh â thanks Graham. I attended the "49 Club" wine luncheon held in the Mercat last week - fantastic meal, exceptional service, the wines were presented by the Club, just a brilliant day.
Fab food Great welcome lovely way to spend a lunch hour.
Excellent fish and chips and steak ciabatta baguette. Nice atmosphere for a pint some food and watching the football. Thats why we come here so often.

Generously sized haggis as a started, non the less, a very nice distinktive taste. Homemade burger was a lovely mix of flavours, again very filling. The delovet left a classy and clean impression. Staff were very polite, kind and helpfull. Will come back ***** (star rating).
