Fitness

 

At the heart of the EnergyWise business are the Fitness Trainers themselves. To be fully effective, all our trainers are fully qualified with individual specialist qualifications. All were chosen because of their professionalism, enthusiasm and client-focused attitudes. All show the same drive for education and self improvement in their fitness careers. Programmes

 

All our programmes are carried out on a one to one basis in a low tech studio. Your trainer will constantly be helping to motivate and inspire you to be the best you can be. We work from the inside out and focus on functional exercises rather than cosmetic fitness to enable you to improve your movement quality for everyday living. That's not to say you won't look fabulous and feel even better!

From the initial consultation which establishes your needs, assesses your current condition and sets your goals, the team will devise a programme specifically to suit you. To achieve long term success, exercise needs to become a habit which fits into your lifestyle. We will help you achieve this, so that you can sustain your new level of fitness long after you have completed our programme. We do not promise instant results as we recognise that you did not get "out of shape" overnight!

 


Health

The culture at EnergyWise is unique in not only providing effective and tailored fitness programmes, but also ensuring that your health requirements are understood and supported fully. We approach this in a number of ways:

Lifestyle Assessments ~ this is carried out at the initial consultation. It enables us to see the whole picture from your Medical Health History to your Exercise / Health / Attitude Profile, after which realistic goals can then be set and monitored.

Energise Weight Management Programme ~ We offer a structured six week Weight Management Programme which focuses on your understanding of dietary and nutritional requirements - either in a group setting or individually.

Education ~ Ongoing throughout your time with EnergyWise we can advise on all aspects of health & fitness to ensure sustainable changes are made to exercise, eating and lifestyle, enabling you to achieve your goals.

Advisory Board ~ Sometimes we don't always know the answer! We work with a selected group of affiliated health professionals and will always admit if we need extra help. In the past we have consulted with Podiatrists for biomechanical assessments, Pharmacists for advice on medications and their effect on exercise, GPs for guidance with diabetes and arthritis and Physiotherapists for specific injuries or muscle imbalances. Confidentiality is guaranteed at all times and we would ask permission from our client in advance.

Pilates

Realistic Pilates operates from a studio in the same building as EnergyWise Health & Fitness. Pilates principles are applied to all activities undertaken at EnergyWise Health & Fitness.

Combining her extensive practical experience in the Fitness Industry with the traditional discipline of Pilates, Fiona Brown and her team have devised an accessible, dynamic and contemporary approach to Pilates Body Conditioning. We are currently offering a comprehensive timetable of Realistic Pilates Classes (see below)

Pilates(Pih-lah-tees) has become the latest buzz word within the fitness industry, although it was developed over 80 years ago by Joseph Pilates as a method of body conditioning. This unique system of stretching and strengthening, originally the preserve of dancers and professionals, is actually a very effective form of exercise, helping the ordinary person with every day functional activities, easing movement and significantly improving posture.

At first glance, Pilates may seem to be a gentle and easy form of exercise, however, its combination of strengthening and mobility moves produces a very intense and highly beneficial workout. High fitness levels or great suppleness are not a necessary prerequisite ofRealistic Pilates. In fact,RealisticPilates aims to enhance both of these conditions, whilst strengthening the 'core muscles' within the torso.Realistic Pilates not only develops the control of breathing but also the co-ordination and stability of the body, changing muscle lengths and relaxing and rebalancing the body. It is particularly beneficial in relieving chronic back pain where the problem is postural. Therapy

 

As a natural extension to the range of Health and Fitness services on offer clients can benefit from our extensive range of complementary therapies. All our therapists are fully trained and highly experienced in their individual fields.
Choose from:
  • Advanced Remedial Massage - uses specific techniques from Swedish and Remedial Sports Massage to treat joint and soft tissue problems e.g. frozen shoulder, tennis elbow and back pain. Promotes healing, improves posture, develops functional strength and accelerates rehabilitation after injury.
  • Bio-energy Therapy - focuses on detecting and releasing blockages in the energy field (aura) and the energy centres (chakras). This therapy assists in the re-balancing and strengthening of the energy field and boosts the body's own natural self-healing process.
  • Colour Therapy - involves treating an individual with colour rays. The application of colour can be given in many ways, all of which work to bring the body into harmony, thereby restoring vitality and well-being on all levels.
  • Craniosacral Therapy - a powerful yet relaxing therapy, which helps release restrictions through subtle manipulation and palpation, supporting self-healing of the mind and body.
  • Hypnotherapy - is a form of deep relaxation, which the therapist guides the client into, through the use of visualisation and other techniques. Hypnotherapy is a safe way of accessing the body's own natural resources and creativity, to enable the individual to make the necessary changes, to improve well-being and quality of life.
  • Reflexology - Based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, which relate directly to all the parts of the body, reflexology involves a particular form of foot massage. It can encourage healing in problem areas, no matter how distant from the feet and is both relaxing and enjoyable. The client is left with a profound sense of well-being.
  • Sports Massage - Not always for Sports people! Deep tissue massage helps to release muscle tensions, increases circulation and stimulates the immune system. Effective in ridding the body of toxins built up after physical exercise or the stress of a working week, allowing the client to feel revitalized yet relaxed and ready to start afresh.
