Hellingly HoundDogs are pleased to announce that Hellingly Parish council have awarded the Youth American Football club the sum of £500 to help cover the costs of minibus hire for the 2020 season.

2019 season saw the HoundDogs enter into the national league for the first time, with the aim of giving their players the chance to play competitive football. It saw the team traveling to Cambridge, London twice for away games, whilst playing two of their three home games at Maidstone. The 2020 season will see the u19’s again having to travel some distance to play again and with the addition of a joint team at U16’s level, the HoundDogs Committee thought it would be a good idea to ask the Parish Council for help with the cost of traveling.

On top of this, the Council also awarded an addition sum of £300 in an emergancy joint application from the HoundDogs and Hellingly Rugby Club, to help cover the costs of both clubs having to move training from Horsebridge recently, to Eastbourne Sports Park due to the flooding the area has experienced.

Club Chairman, Luke Boorer added “We are very lucky to have such a helpful Parish council here at Hellingly. The money will be sued to help hire and fuel a minibus for us to travel as a team rather than lots of parents taking their kids in many different vehicles. We did this last season with the U19 Legion team and it proved to be a great success. The money means we can also reduce the fee we charge the kids and their parents for this service. We would also like to sent a massive thank you to the Parish Council for helping fund our move to Eastbourne for training. Without their help, the two clubs would have struggled to fund the additional costs. I would personally like to go on record and say a massive thank you to all the Councillors. We are very fortunate to have a Parish Council that supports local sports and the local residents”.

The HoundDogs are now on their winter break. The U16 an dU19 Contact teams return to training on Wednesday the 8th of January at Eastbourne Sports Park from 6:30PM with the Flag section returning at the same venue of the 5th of February.
