Eastbourne Theatres have four theatres in the town with a combined capacity of more than 4,500. Each theatre has it’s own distinct character and style, from the purpose built Congress Theatres to the atmospheric Victorian Devonshire Park Theatre.
The Congress Theatre is a modern, purpose built theatre and conference venue which first opened in 1963. With a seating capacity of 1689, this Grade II listed building is a popular choice for touring companies.
The theatre is host to an array of productions, from West End tours and full scale musicals to stand-up comedians, ballet, opera, ice shows, live music and much more besides.
A plethora of household names have visited the Congress Theatre over the years. In recent years these have included, Michael McIntyre, Brian Conley, Elaine Paige, Ken Dodd, Derren Brown, Anton Du Beke & Erin Boag, Lee Evans and Connie Fisher, to name a few!
