NatWest CricketForce is the largest volunteering event in sport, and this year the entire playing squad, coaching and office staff of Sussex County Cricket Club (SCCC) took part.

With the ambition to rejuvenate playing facilities and placing local clubs at the heart of communities, the initiative brought professionals such as Andy Hodd, Monty Panesar and Chris Nash to six clubs across the area.

Jobs included painting pavilions, moving soil, and of course, coaching the youngsters at each club.

Andy Hobbs, the Head of Recreational Cricket for Sussex, hailed the event a huge success:

“It’s great that we as a whole club are able to get out into the community at this early stage of the season and show our commitment to the local cricket clubs.

The playing and coaching staff have always shown a strong commitment to the NatWest CricketForce event over the years and we’re delighted that they were willing to get their hands dirty once again!”

Sussex has also been chosen for one of the three NatWest showcase events when the official CricketForce weekend takes place on April 9th, as former England Captain Mike Gatting will be a very special guest of Bognor Cricket Club.
