East Grinstead's High Street Dental Practice, already very popular with local residents, is about to extend its reach into the African continent!
Dentist, Jaspal Sandhu sets off on 24th September on a charity expedition with other dentists from the UK, to provide emergency and much needed dental treatment for the Berber tribe in North East Morocco.
The tribe urgently require dental care as the under funded local doctor has 50,000 people in his care, and simply cannot provide for them all. In a Berber Village on the Mediterranean coast, a group of eight UK dentists will be treating both men and women whose biggest problem is gingivitis (inflammation of the gums surrounding the teeth).
The trip lasts for a week and money is being raised for supplies and materials to help the Berber Tribe. Dr Sandhu is personally meeting the costs of the trip.
As he explains: “In ten years time, the day will come when the Berber Tribe, its land and its traditions will be swallowed up into mainstream society – just as the Red Indians and Aborigines did before them. But today, the privilege to experience the tribe in their natural habitat, is available to a very few.”
We will publish more about his trip on his return.
