Following a number of successful trial transmissions, East Grinstead's own radio station is shortly to be back on the air.
Meridian FM is undergoing test transmissions from a new home in the Jubilee Community Centre in Charlwoods Road. Station manager Nigel Peacock said: "We're now on 107fm . We want people in East Grinstead to listen and tell us how the signal is where they are. They can telephone the office on 01342 325825 or email us. At the moment we are broadcasting music and a few announcements to test the studio and transmission.
The volunteer-run station was launched as a month-long trial in 2006 and has carried out two 28-day broadcasts a year from East Court. With the granting by OfCom of a full-time licence last year, the station's base needed to expand and moved into its new home last month.
Once testing has been completed the station will announce an official launch date, likely to be in March.
