I recently met Nigel Blackwell, owner of Copthorne based LCK Express, a family run distribution business. LCK Express have refined their core business model over the years, in the face of massive change in the logistics and distribution industry, to one that now focusses on global distribution for clients specifically within the RH postal area. They bring their long experience to bear simply on timely collection and delivery to and from anywhere in the world, to serve the needs of local customers, many of whom they have worked with for years.
Apart from being impressed by their huge experience at what they do, I was captivated by the imagination Nigel has shown in coming up with his latest enterprise.
In his new venture Nigel has cleverly combined a by-product of his distribution activity with an evident local need, to create 'Kindling n things', a new venture that manufactures and sells packaged dry kindling wood and logs for owners of real fires.
The kindling wood is produced from quality used pallets that have reached the end of their useful life and are no longer suitable for the shipping of freight. The material is cut to the correct size and packed into bags by a specialist machine.
In addition, logs are obtained from sustainable sources, cut into 20cm lengths and netted for delivery.
