One of East Grinstead's best kept secrets has won an Award. Cusine Studio, the restaurant in the Chequer Mead Theatre and Arts Centre, has been acclaimed as 'Best Restaurant 2009' by local people who registered and voted on 'thebestofEastGrinstead'.
I have known Mandy and Roger Newby, who run Cuisine Studio, for many years through sports and social activities at the now closed Dunnings Mill Squash & Health Club. They have impeccable credentials as restaurateurs, having worked at establishments such as Harrods and Ashdown Park Hotel.
I have eaten at Cuisine Studio several times and the food is awesome, great value and expertly prepared by Mandy. She produces favourite dishes such as farmhouse pies to die for and sausage with red onion gravy. She also does home-baked cakes and cream teas. To illustrate what a family business this is, her son Paul expertly runs the front of house service too.
