How to choose the right wedding photographer

How do you choose the right photographer for your wedding?

There is a huge difference between a professional and amateur photographer.

Be wary of picking a part-time or unqualified wedding photographer: although cheaper you may not get the results you expected.

Check credentials (qualifications, awards etc.), their portfolio and client testimonials.

Questions to ask your photographer:

What is your primary style - posed and formal, photojournalistic, candid, creative, artistic, relaxed?
Can you shoot in black and white? Do you shoot in a digital format and create both black and white and colour versions of the same picture?
How many photos will I get and how many copies? Will you do a photobook?
Do you charge by the hour and what are the extra charges if the event lasts longer than planned?
Do you need any refreshments?
How many times have you worked specifically as a wedding photographer? How many of these events were similar to the size and formality of our wedding?
What kind of equipment will you bring? How intrusive will it be?

It's important to pick a photographer who has inspirational ideas, pays great attention to detail and is devoted to their job.
