Welcome to Durham School

Durham School - one of the leading independent schools in the UK for girls and boys aged 3 to 18 years.

Durham School

Independent Day and Boarding School (co-educational)

for children aged 3-18 years

A very warm welcome awaits you and your family at Durham School.

With a history dating back to the fifteenth century, Durham School is one of the oldest independent schools in Durham and the UK.

A message from Mr Martin George, who is a former pupil of the school, and takes up his appointment as Headmaster in April 2009:

"Would you like your child to achieve good examination results while also developing life skills in other areas which also promote a quiet self-confidence which lasts a lifetime? Unlocking and fulfilling the potential of each and every one of our 600 pupils (age 3 through to 18) is, and always has been, Durham School's top priority.

From the Badger Nursery through to the Sixth Form, we encourage all children to work hard and to extend their educational experience well beyond the classroom and to develop their own individual gifts and talents.

Above all Durham School is a family and from your very first contact it is our intention to make you feel part of our community. Our pupils are happy pupils; that is why they succeed. We want our parents to be happy parents and to be part of the pupils' success.

So please come along to one of our Open Mornings and discover why a Durham School education really is Confidence for Life."
