The most striking impact using AHM has had on the project is the design of the property itself, Alan has turned a mundane old bungalow into a contemporary and stylish family home. Having unsuccessfully and dispiritingly tried four different architects for ideas of how to re-develop a redundant car showroom I own, I was recommended AHM by a friend. Within minutes of my first meeting with Alan it was apparent that he had determined what I needed to achieve and quickly came up with a superb, cost effective and appropriate development for the site. Throughout the following months both Alan and Phil took the time to guide me through the various stages of the development of the drawings, and a difficult planning application while making sure I understood all the procedure’s involved. As this was my first project, and consisted of 17 dwelling’s this was a time taking process for AHM! Both Phil and Alan were always available to explain, patient and confidence inspiring. From the start of our building project we were bogged down by a minefield of problems, heartache and grief, when it came to architects, we were mislead, cheated on and taken advantage of by some, you know who you are! but then..... things began to look up.... we were pointed in the direction of AHM, and we started off down a path that proved to be fruitful. Alan Mayhew (and Simon Whithead) from AHM listened carefully to our brief, ideas and concerns (we had been badly burned by our previous experiences), they went away and designed a scheme for us that consists of 3 highly unique executive houses and one workshop on our site in bishop auckland, County Durham. Everyone and I do mean everyone that has visited our site has been blown away by the layout and the concept that they came up with. Don't get me wrong here this is not going to be a 'love in' with AHM, there were issues and debates at times, but these were resolved quickly and professionally (as they should be). We would use AHM again without hesitation, and without a doubt recommend their services, they are a great bunch of professional guys who know there stuff, and I have already recommended their services to others. AHM led us out of the wilderness that we seemed to be in 7 or so years ago, and myself and my wife Laura are very grateful for their input, we now have a dream home which we are moving into in a month or so, and 2 lovely houses that we now rent out. give them a try, I am sure you won't be disappointed.

From start to finish Alan Mayhew and his team were excellent to deal with. Our project was quite complicated involving bringing an old tired house up to modern standards. AHM achieved this with sympathy to the original design yet boldness that maximised space use and natural lighting. The attention to detail and determination to create a stunning project was evident throughout. They worked very effectively with builders and engineers, and I would be very happy to recommend their services. AHM had very productive meetings with the Planning Authority and the building inspectors as was required from time to time. I think they gained immediate respect from these officials which eased subsequent decisions. Their terms and conditions were very fair and they adhered to everything that was agreed in advance.
