THE LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS WAS ALL IMPORTANT IN VICTORIAN TIMES.
However, times have moved on and with all the electronic methods of messaging at our disposal it is usually only at 'special' times of the year such as Valentines that we may send our message to a loved one in a more traditional way.
I spoke with Margaret Cook at Farmgate Floral Design who is an expert in her field and passionate about the beautiful displays she creates for her clients.
Margaret says "I love flowers. With all the different forms, shapes, textures and colours of each flower stem makes them fascinating to work with. Of course one wonders and is always curious what every flower means. We all know that the Red Rose means 'I love you' but sometimes flowers can say the very thing we may be too timid to say for ourselves to our partners and loved ones.
Other floweres we love all have their own message - Lilies denote beauty, elegance and sweetness. Tulips of all colours also send love and Red Carnations show 'pure love'. So before you send that Valentine bouquet you will know the flowers you are sending will bring happiness and love to the recipient'
Flowers can be a token of love, congratulations, thank you, birth of a baby or an anniversary but of course we all think of Valentines Day at this time of year.
Margaret and her team at Farmgate create the most exquisite floral displays all year round with bridal flowers their speciality - often the next step after Valentine flowers is an engagement or wedding so for more information contact Margaret at www.farmgatefloraldesign.co.uk or call 07854734097 to discuss your individual requirements.
