CHUNG DO KWAN N. IRELAND TAE KWON DO
Tae Kwon Do is a modern martial art.
Tae Kwon Do means "the art of hand and foot fighting". It is also a martial art of health, fitness and self defence. People join our classes for several reasons, some to get fit and some to learn self-defence.
There is a lot more to kicking and punching, we also aim to develop better co-ordination, self-confidence and all round fitness.
Chung Do Kwan NI was set up in 2003 by David Jones. Our classes are open to all men, women and children from 5 years of age. David Jones has been involved with Tae Kwon Do for 19 years and is a qualified instructor.
Chung Do Kwan is an independent group that is affiliated with the Irish Taekwondo Union (ITU). The ITU is the sole body responsible for the development of World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Olympic style, Taekwondo within Ireland. The WTF is the largest Taekwondo body in the world. They have also secured Olympic recognition.
The aims of Chung Do Kwan NI are:
-
To promote friendship, co-operation and harmony through the practise of martial arts regardless of nationality, religious or political beliefs.
-
To maintain high technical and ethical standards in the traditional martial art.
-
To show that martial art training is beneficial mentally and physically as well as being enjoyable and an effective means of self-defence
-
To provide members with a grading syllabus, certification of grades, competitions, seminars and as many amenities and facilities as possible.
The art of Taekwondo is practised in over 167 countries by over 50 million people and is one of the greatest martial arts worldwide. Children will gain confidence and self-discipline as they learn the value of making goals and working hard to achieve them.
We understand that younger students have a much shorter attention span than adults, that’s why we make our lessons enjoyable and interesting to keep the young students attention. A lot of children will show an improvement in discipline and concentration and learn to respect others.
