The White Cliffs Ramblers is the branch of the National Ramblers' Association covering the fabulous tourist destinations of Deal, Sandwich, Dover, Folkestone and Hythe and Thanet areas working for walkers.
The group, formed in Deal in 1989, is celebrating its 20th birthday this year by producing a special calendar of walks.We understand the positive impact walking can have on peoples lives.
Get More Out Of Walking
Walking with your local Ramblers Group is a great way to explore your countryside, keep fit and meet good company. Ramblers walk leaders often know the best and most interesting footpaths, so you can enjoy the benefits of walking without the worries of planning a route or getting lost.
The White Cliffs Group of the Ramblers walks on Sundays and Thursdays, distances varying from 5 to 15 miles, mostly with a pub stop for lunch. We walk throughout South and East Kent, from the wide skies of Romney Marsh or Faversham creek, to the hills and downlands of Wye, Folkestone and Dover; picturesque Elham and Alkham valleys, rich farmlands and orchards around Sandwich Dover and Deal.
Why not try walking with us? You'd be very welcome to come on a couple of walks without any obligation to join the White Cliffs Ramblers, this invitation is open to visitors and tourists as well as local residents.
Improving Countryside protection and access
We believe that the public footpaths and open spaces around the Deal Dover and East Kent area must be protected for everyone to enjoy especially tourists.
Volunteers from the White Cliffs Ramblers walking group spend much time regularly keeping footpaths in the Dover Deal and sandwich area open by repairing and clearing paths and stiles and reporting any problems to KCC area footpaths officers. In the past five years we have installed over 70 metal kissing gates (supplied by KCC) to replace dilapidated or outdated stiles. This work is essential to maintain the East Kent area's extensive network of footpaths.
