Welcome to The Sandwich Festival

Visitors to the annual Sandwich Festival will find a wide varitey of entertainment and music throughout the week for the whole family to enjoy!

Sunday 22nd August   10am    10K Road Race and 6K Fun Run.

Entrance fees 6K £5 , 10K £10. Starting at the Quay Green.

Monday 23rd August    7pm – 9pm        Music in the Garden, an informal musical event at Ramparts Lodge, Knightrider Street with the Becker Palm Court Trio

Entrance Fee £7

This event will be held in St Mary’s Church if heavy rain renders the garden unsuitable.

 

Tuesday 24th August   11am    St Bart’s Patronal Festival in St Bart’s Chapel followed by Bun Run at 12noon.

Thursday 26th August 2.30pm Ash Heritage Group Walk with local historian Peter Ewart—‘See History before your eyes’ Saxon burial ground, reminders of East Kent light railway, local churchyard. Easy walk for 2 hours around lanes and meadow, be sure to wear adequate footwear.

2010 Summer Reading Challenge.

This year‘s theme is space and is called Space Hop. The challenge will enable children to boldly go to new worlds, to discover the joy of reading and nurture a life-long love affair with reading and books.

 

Illustrated by leading children’s book artist Tom Percival.

 

Space Hop coincides with the 350th anniversary of The Royal Society’s scientific endeavours, and the 2010 BBC Year of Science.

The Secret Gardens of Sandwich at The Salutation will be holding a Summer Sculpture Exhibition showcasing stunning, contemporary, stone sculptures by Canterbury based group Pure Form. Throughout the Festival the gardens will be open from 10am to 5pm. There will be an auction at 6pm on Saturday 28th August – open to all.

Standard admission charges apply :  Adults £6, Senior Citizens £5.50, Children £3 (under 6s go free). Family ticket £16
