The Sandwich Guildhall Museum is a fascinating tourist attraction, located in Sandwich Guildhall, Sandwich close to the Deal and Dover area of Kent, and was built during the reign of Elizabeth I and has been enlarged and modified in recent times.
The Sandwich Guildhall Museum and tourist attraction, tells the rich history of Sandwich from early medieval times and contains many illustrative panels relating to the town's history with artefacts dating back to the early 13th Century.
Panels include information on the Cinque Ports, Courts and Coronations, Sandwich and its Limbs, Port Haven and Quayside, Sea Battles, Ferries and Bridges, Richborough Fort, Crime and Punishment, Commerce, Strangers, Weights and Measures, Sandwich USA, Thomas Paine, Sandwich at War, Hospitals, Churches, Trophies, Plate and Seals.
Finally there is a list of some of the dates and events which are worthy of note in the development of the town as the Ancient Town and Port of Sandwich Kent.
The Sandwich Guildhall Museum close to Deal and Dover Kent, is open from 1st April-30th November on Tues/Weds/Fri/Sat from 10.30-12.30 and 14.00-1600,
Sunday and Thursday 14.00-16.00.
Closed Mondays.
Admission is excellent value : £1 Adult, 50p Child/Senior Citizen, £2 Family
There is a large public pay and display car park at the rear of the Guildhall.
Parking is free daily at Gazen Salts Car park a short walk away, by from 12 noon until 3pm
